What we source

Medical & PPE

PPE, disposables and lab consumables can be sourced from China at scale — but compliance and traceability are everything. We source medical supplies with careful verification and quality control.

China is a principal source of the world's PPE and medical disposables, and for organisations buying at scale the pricing is compelling. It is also the category with the least tolerance for error. The pandemic demonstrated at considerable cost what happens when medical supply chains are built on unverified certification and suppliers nobody had actually checked — and the lesson is worth keeping in view.

Our approach here is deliberately conservative. Certification and traceability are verified before ordering, not accepted from a document. Sampling and pre-shipment inspection are built into every order rather than offered as an upgrade. We are also clear about the limits of what we do: we source and verify, but final regulatory responsibility for placing medical products on the UK market rests with the importer, and any organisation entering this category should have that responsibility properly understood before ordering.

What we source

  • PPE — masks, gloves and gowns
  • Disposables and consumables
  • First-aid supplies
  • Laboratory consumables
  • Mobility and care aids
  • Medical packaging

What to consider

  • Medical and PPE products carry specific regulatory requirements — we verify certification and traceability before ordering.
  • Sampling and pre-shipment inspection are essential in this category; we build them into every order.
  • Batch traceability has to run from raw material through to delivery, so that a problem can be isolated to a specific production run.
  • Sterile and single-use products carry expiry dating, which needs factoring into order quantities and stockholding.

Common questions

Can you ensure medical and PPE compliance?

We verify the required certification and traceability as part of sourcing, and sample and inspect before shipment. Final regulatory responsibility rests with the importer.

How do you verify a supplier in this category?

More stringently than elsewhere. We check certification against the issuing body, confirm production capability and quality systems, and require batch traceability — because a plausible document is not evidence in a regulated category.

What about shelf life on sterile products?

Sterile and single-use items carry expiry dating, so order quantities need to reflect actual consumption rather than the best unit price. We factor it into the quantity we recommend.
