Chinese New Year 2027: the dates that matter

From mid-December 2026
Freight rates rise as everyone ships before the closure. Book early or pay the peak.
From mid-January 2027
Factories stop taking new orders for pre-holiday delivery. Production slows as workers begin travelling home.
30 January 2027
Most factories have wound down. Anything not finished by now waits until after the holiday.
5-12 February 2027
Official public holiday. New Year's Day is Friday 6 February 2027.
From 20 February 2027
Factories begin reopening, but with only part of the workforce back. Quality dips are common in these first weeks.
Early March 2027
Most factories back to normal capacity. Backlogs from the closure still take weeks to clear.

Estimates only. Shutdown length varies by factory, province and industry, and some factories close for a month or more. Transit times are door-to-door estimates, not a carrier quote. Confirm your factory's actual closure dates before relying on any plan.
