Personal China orders to your nearest port
Yes, subject to the goods and shipping route, you can arrange a personal China order to a named destination port through a UK sourcing company. Ask for a quote in GBP, USD or EUR, with inspection, documents and freight scope stated. Your own importer and local broker handle arrival; door delivery is confirmed per shipment. Ask Cambridge China Bridge.

Start with your home order and a named port
Tell us that you are buying for yourself, your home or your family, rather than for resale. Send product links or photographs, quantities, dimensions, materials and any assembly needs. This guide covers genuine branded goods, your own designs or branding, and unbranded goods. Ask about availability through our small-order service.
Give your destination country and the port name, rather than asking only for the nearest port. Ask the freight provider to confirm whether that port suits the shipment, then check collection arrangements with your local broker. Cambridge China Bridge has its own staff in China; buying through a UK company does not mean the goods must travel through the UK.
Get a quote with a clear stopping point
Request the quote in pounds sterling, US dollars or euros, shown as GBP, USD or EUR. Ask which currency you will pay in, how long the quote remains valid and what could change before booking. The quote should name the destination port and separate the goods, China-side collection, packing, inspection, documents and sea freight, or explicitly state which are included together.
Ask whether insurance, destination handling, customs clearance, duty, tax, storage and onward delivery are included or excluded, and who pays each excluded charge. A port quote alone does not confirm delivery to your home. Use our UK-company buying service to discuss the arrangement, and compare freight quotes before accepting the shipping scope.
Agree who sells to you and what gets inspected
Before paying, confirm whether Cambridge China Bridge sells you the goods or acts as your buying agent, which company invoices you and who handles a problem with the order. Our seller-or-agent guide explains that distinction. Record that this is a personal purchase so the quotation and order reflect your actual use.
Agree checks against your approved specification or sample, including dimensions, finish, operation, accessories and protective packing. Ask for photographs, findings and the report issuer’s name before approving shipment. Agree what happens if a check fails. On charging, factory audits and inspections are usually included in the quote; complex checks that need a third party are charged separately and agreed in advance.
Prepare the documents and freight handover
Ask for the factory invoice and packing list, plus any agreed product reports, instructions and inspection record. Have your broker review draft documents before dispatch and identify anything else needed for this shipment. Check that descriptions, quantities, package details and recipient details agree across the documents. An inspection report records the agreed checks; it does not replace your broker’s document review.
Record who collects the goods, where the freight provider takes them over and who confirms receipt. Ask who issues the shipping document, who sends it to your broker and how you receive arrival updates. If goods come from different factories, discuss consolidation, including checks when goods reach the collection warehouse and responsibility for final packing. For the combined shipment, see consolidating factory orders to your port.
Set up your arrival arrangements before shipping
Arrange your own importer and local customs broker before approving dispatch. Ask the broker to confirm who will be named as importer, whether they can handle your personal shipment, which documents they need and how clearance and collection will work. Your own importer and broker handle destination requirements, duty and tax. This guide does not advise on destination law. For a UK destination, see our guide to import tax on personal purchases.
Door delivery outside the UK is confirmed per shipment. If you want it, provide the address and explain vehicle access, unloading, stairs and any installation needs. Ask for written confirmation of the delivery scope and remaining charges. Before the goods sail, keep the accepted quote, order, inspection record, documents and arrival contacts together.
