Can factory plastic bags go into Amazon UK FBA?

Your factory’s bags may be suitable, but approve them against the current instructions in your UK Seller Central account. Record the sealing, thickness, warning and barcode checks, then examine a finished packed sample before authorising trial-batch preparation. Factory-side checking can be coordinated by Cambridge China Bridge.

Capture the current UK account instructions

Sign in to Seller Central, select the UK marketplace and search Help for packaging and prep requirements, including poly-bagged units. Check the guidance for your product category and the preparation instructions shown for the intended shipment. Save the relevant wording, page title and date checked with your packing brief.

The public help page did not expose the full requirements during this research, so this guide gives no fixed thickness or warning threshold. If instructions conflict or your bag type is unclear, ask Seller Support about the exact product and proposed pack. Attach photographs and retain the reply before approving preparation.

Turn the bag requirements into a factory brief

Ask the factory to identify the bag material, dimensions, film thickness, thickness unit and closure method. Copy the current account requirement beside each proposed specification. Ask for measurements of the actual film and an explanation of the measuring method. Resolve unit differences before approval; a description such as ‘Amazon suitable’ gives you nothing measurable.

Record how the bag opening is measured, when a suffocation warning is called for, and the current wording, language, print size and placement instructions. Ask the factory to submit the warning artwork and sealing method together. Refer questions about ventilation holes, resealable closures or category exceptions to Seller Support rather than approving a presumed exemption.

Inspect the sealed pack and scan its barcode

Request a physical sample containing the actual product and accessories, packed with the intended bag, warning and label. Examine the closure and seams for gaps, lifting adhesive and trapped contents. Handle the pack as it will be handled during preparation and transport, then check whether the seal holds and the warning remains readable.

Scan the finished pack without opening it and record the decoded value against the intended product and variant. Check whether folds, glare, warning printing or movement inside the bag interfere with scanning. Use our barcode sticker placement guide for label positioning and competing barcodes; keep barcode approval separate from bag approval.

Approve the sample before preparing the trial batch

Keep the accepted sample and photographs with a written approval naming the product variant, bag specification, closure method, warning artwork and label file. Record the measurement and scan results, unresolved points and the person authorised to approve changes. Give the factory a clear instruction to hold preparation until you release that specification.

Check finished trial stock against the approved pack across product variants, bag supplies and packing runs. Ask for evidence from the actual batch rather than another demonstration sample. Hold affected stock if materials or artwork change, seals fail or scans identify the wrong item. Our quality inspection guide explains how to brief the batch inspection.

Decide whether the prepared stock can travel directly

Bag approval is a preparation checkpoint, not confirmation that the shipment is ready for direct delivery. Confirm the remaining unit, carton and shipment instructions before dispatch. If preparation remains unproven, consider receiving at a UK preparation warehouse first. Our direct FBA delivery guide covers that route decision. For repeat shipments, see our guide to Amazon UK FBA capacity checks.

UK businesses selling consumer products must not sell products they know, or should have known, are unsafe. Keep unresolved product or packaging safety concerns on hold even when the barcode scans. Cambridge China Bridge can use its own staff in China to coordinate the packed sample, factory brief and trial-batch checks.

Do my factory bags need a suffocation warning?

Check the current UK instructions for the opening measurement, warning trigger, wording and print requirements. Resolve category or bag-design uncertainty with Seller Support before approving artwork.
