Sourcing gas turbines and turbine parts from China
Turbojets, turboprops, industrial gas turbines and their parts, including turbocharger wheels and housings, pay 0% UK duty from China, with no anti-dumping duty. An aircraft part is eligible for installation only with an authorised release certificate, the CAA Form 1; industrial parts are bought on material and inspection evidence. Cambridge China Bridge sources turbine parts and assemblies.
Turbojets, turboprops, gas turbines and their parts pay 0% UK duty from China. Aviation parts need a CAA Form 1; industrial parts need casting evidence.

Zero duty across the heading
Read from the UK Trade Tariff on 25 September 2026, turbojets, turbopropellers, other gas turbines of every power band and the parts of all of them carried 0% duty on goods from China, whether or not declared for civil aircraft use. No line carried an anti-dumping measure.
The heading also covers parts that are not aviation parts at all: turbine wheels and housings for turbochargers, and blades and ring segments for stationary gas turbines used in power generation. Confirm the commodity code for each part, because some carry their own ten-digit line.

Aviation parts: the CAA Form 1
Under point 21.A.307 of Part 21, as it applies in the UK, a part or appliance is eligible for installation in a type-certified product when it is in a condition for safe operation, marked as the rules require, and accompanied by an authorised release certificate, the CAA Form 1, certifying that it was manufactured in conformity with approved design data. Narrow exceptions exist, for standard parts among others.
That makes the supplier's approval the product. For a part that will go on an aircraft, the question is whether the production organisation can issue a release certificate the CAA accepts for that part, and the answer has to be in writing before the order. The certifications guide explains the wider documentation habits.
Industrial and turbocharger parts
Outside aviation, turbine parts are bought on evidence rather than certificates: the alloy and its heat treatment, the casting method, and the inspection. Hot-section parts are usually nickel alloy investment castings, so ask for the material certificate, the heat lot, X-ray or other volumetric inspection for internal defects, penetrant inspection for surface cracks, and dimensional reports from a coordinate measuring machine.
Turbocharger wheels also need balancing records, since an unbalanced wheel fails at speed. Put every one of these in the product specification and the factory audit, and inspect first articles before the production run.
Lead times and traceability
Castings of this kind have long tooling and qualification lead times, and a change of foundry is a change of product. Keep the approved foundry, alloy and process named in the contract, require notice of any change, and keep the traceability from heat lot to part number with each shipment.
Cambridge China Bridge sources turbine castings, machined parts and assemblies to your drawings, with the material, inspection and release documents agreed before production and checked before shipment. See how our sourcing service works.
Frequently asked questions
What is the UK import duty on gas turbine parts from China?
Read from the UK Trade Tariff on 25 September 2026, turbojets, turbopropellers, gas turbines and their parts carried 0% duty from China, with no anti-dumping duty.
Can aircraft engine parts be bought from China?
For installation in a type-certified aircraft, a part needs a CAA Form 1 certifying conformity with approved design data, under point 21.A.307 of Part 21. The production organisation's approval decides it.
What evidence should come with industrial turbine castings?
Material certificates and heat lot, heat treatment records, X-ray and penetrant inspection results, dimensional reports and, for turbocharger wheels, balancing records.
Why does changing foundry matter for turbine parts?
Casting process and alloy define the part. Name the approved foundry in the contract, require notice of any change and keep heat lot traceability.
