Standards, threads and pressure
Fittings are specified by standard: the thread form, British Standard Pipe or another, the flange standard and pressure class, and the pressure and temperature rating. Put the standard, size range, material grade and finish, black, galvanised or coated, in the product specification, and ask for material certificates with each batch.
Check threads with gauges and dimensions on samples at inspection, and ask for a pressure test on a sample from each batch for pressure-rated fittings.
Drinking water and gas
Fittings on water supplied by a water undertaker are water fittings: regulation 4 of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 requires them to be of an appropriate quality and standard, shown by a British Standard or a regulator-approved specification, and merchants often ask for third-party approval. Galvanising and corrosion
