Where is Ningbo Port?

Ningbo-Zhoushan spans port areas around Ningbo and Zhoushan on the Zhejiang coast in eastern China. Official port material describes its position alongside the Yangtze River Delta economic region, while NBCT’s profile documents rail connections to inland transport.

For buyers, distinguish the port complex from the terminal handling a particular sailing. Obtain the actual receiving terminal and address before arranging container delivery.

What ships from Ningbo-Zhoushan?

A port report published on 5 June 2023 names automotive parts, smart household appliances, furniture, everyday consumer goods and textiles as cargo scheduled for loading at Chuanshan for Europe. These are documented examples, not an export ranking.

Ningbo’s government portal reports customs statistics showing that mechanical and electrical products represented 58.2% of Ningbo city’s export value in 2025. This city statistic does not establish the port’s container cargo mix.

Before accepting a freight quote, provide the actual product and packaging details. Flag batteries, liquids, chemicals, temperature requirements, heavy pieces and unusual dimensions for assessment by the carrier or forwarder.

How long does shipping from Ningbo take?

The table uses selected sailings in OOCL’s published schedules. Each range is calculated in calendar days from scheduled Ningbo departure to the first scheduled arrival at the named destination.

Which terminal will handle my shipment?

Official port material documents container operations at Beilun, Chuanshan and Meishan. The Chuanshan operator’s website states that Ningbo Port Group Beilun Third Container Co., Ltd. manages container production operations there. Zhoushan Yongzhou Container Terminal Co., Ltd. operates Dapukou Container Terminal in the Jintang port area.

Obtain the terminal name, receiving location, vessel and voyage from the booking instructions, then verify the applicable container receiving notice before dispatching the truck.

NBCT’s official profile identifies container rail connections at Beilun Port Station, Beilun Chuanshan Station and Zhenhai port area. Ask for a shipment-specific itinerary and quotation covering the inland movement and connection to the booked vessel.

Which cut-offs must I meet?

Work backwards from the booked sailing. Ask the forwarder to confirm each applicable deadline, its time zone and the responsible party, covering container gate-in, shipping instructions, verified gross mass (VGM) and customs formalities.

Ningbo’s official voyage-query page displays separate fields for customs cut-off, terminal documentation cut-off, container receiving start and end times, and estimated vessel arrival. It directs users to the newer EDI receiving notices; Yongzhou’s website also identifies the port-wide receiving-notice channels.

For consolidated cargo, request the receiving warehouse’s cargo deadline alongside the vessel deadlines. Confirm which milestones the provider handles and which documents you must supply.

If a deadline changes or is missed, request updated booking and container-handling instructions in writing. Confirm the consequences before moving or leaving equipment at a depot.

Does Ningbo Port close for Chinese New Year?

Do not assume a port-wide shutdown. The port’s report published on 25 February 2026 records Spring Festival operations at Meishan, Chuanshan and Beilun.

Maersk’s holiday guidance identifies production slowdowns, reduced labour availability, trucking and warehouse disruption, and congestion. These are planning risks, not evidence of a current Ningbo delay.

For the next holiday, confirm production and dispatch dates, cargo receiving deadlines, the sailing and a contingency plan with the supplier and forwarder. Check the factory’s final dispatch date separately from terminal cut-offs.

A short UK example: freight, customs value and VAT

For imports into Great Britain, HMRC says transaction value is the first valuation method to try. Where applicable, it starts from the price actually paid or payable for goods sold for import, with required adjustments. Transport, loading and handling costs up to the UK place of introduction enter the customs value; do not add costs already included.

For import VAT, start with customs value and add applicable Customs Duty, levies, excise duty and other import charges, excluding VAT itself. Include relevant incidental expenses to the first UK destination and those resulting from transport to a further UK destination known at importation, without double counting. Provide the declarant with the invoice and freight breakdown.

What to send before requesting a Ningbo shipping quote

Provide the collection and destination addresses, product description, packed dimensions, gross weight, quantity, cargo-ready date and special handling information. State the agreed delivery terms and requested collection, consolidation, customs and delivery services.

Ask for the loading terminal, carrier service, direct or transshipment routing, estimated departure and arrival, applicable cut-offs, included charges and excluded destination costs.
