Can I use a supplier's lab report on Amazon UK?

You can submit a supplier's report if its permitted use covers the submission and it meets the platform's current request for your product. Confirm written permissions and laboratory terms before buying stock; resolve redactions that prevent verification. Checks with the factory and laboratory can be coordinated by Cambridge China Bridge.

Check the request before committing to stock

Retrieve the current evidence request from your Amazon UK account or other sales platform. Ask whether an existing supplier report is suitable, whether the applicant or brand must match your business, and whether submission involves laboratory verification or fresh testing. Save the reply against the affected product. Do not budget on a supplier's promise that its report will be accepted.

Keep platform acceptance separate from your product compliance assessment. Our report-to-order guide covers product matching, while our Amazon submission agency guide covers delegated uploads. Here, the purchasing checkpoint is whether you can obtain and share usable evidence.

Obtain permission for the intended use

For copyright-protected material, agree terms with the current rights owner for the use you need. Ask the supplier and laboratory who can authorise copying and submission. Request written permission identifying your business, the report reference and revision, covered products, platforms and recipients. Ask whether permission covers repeat submissions, verification enquiries and retention in your compliance file.

Separate confidential submission from public use in a listing or advertisement. Ask expressly about sharing with platform reviewers, their testing providers, your compliance adviser and authorities. Obtain the report applicant's authorisation for the laboratory to answer verification questions. A forwarded attachment or permission to view a report should not be your purchasing basis for assuming wider use.

Read the laboratory's terms

Request the terms applicable to the issued report, including conditions printed within it and any referenced agreement. Look for restrictions on reproduction, extracts, translations, publication, use of the laboratory's name or logo, and reliance by anyone other than its client. Ask the laboratory to explain whether it permits your intended submission and whether separate permission or an agreement is needed.

Distinguish permission to upload from whether the laboratory accepts responsibility towards your business for reliance on its work. Ask about disclaimers and limitations before purchasing. Have the issuer correct names or prepare an authorised reissue where appropriate; do not edit the original yourself. Use our report verification guide for authenticity checks.

Protect confidentiality without losing evidence

Government guidance recommends defining a specific permitted purpose in a confidentiality agreement. Ask for arrangements that allow product assessment, laboratory verification, platform submission and necessary disclosure to authorities. Specify recipients, secure transfer, access controls, retention and onward sharing. Check the platform's handling arrangements before promising the supplier that every recipient will sign its confidentiality agreement.

Request the complete original for assessment. Challenge redactions hiding applicant or manufacturer identity, model details, photographs, report references, methods, results, exclusions or construction information needed to match the goods. For unrelated confidential material, consider a separate annex or direct laboratory delivery to the reviewer, if the reviewer agrees. Keep an authorised comparison record and the original accessible to the relevant assessor; do not treat an unreadable pack as sufficient.

Make evidence access a purchase condition

Before paying a deposit, agree the deliverables: complete report, written permissions, applicable laboratory terms, verification authorisation and a documented route for confidential review. Record who obtains each item and what happens if permission, access or platform suitability remains unresolved. Ask your adviser to review proposed purchase conditions rather than accepting a promise to sort the paperwork after production.

If the evidence cannot be shared or assessed, pause the purchase and agree an alternative report or fresh testing with suitable use permissions. Name the commissioning business and intended recipients in the testing brief. Cambridge China Bridge's own staff in China can coordinate factory documents and testing arrangements; platform acceptance remains a separate decision.

Frequently asked questions

Can I upload a report issued in my supplier's name?

Possibly. Check the platform's current request, product matching and permission to submit. Obtain the applicant's authorisation for laboratory verification rather than changing the report's name yourself.

Is the supplier's permission enough?

Check who controls the relevant rights and what the laboratory's terms allow. Obtain confirmation covering your intended recipients and use; the supplier's assurance may leave laboratory restrictions unresolved.

Can I submit a redacted laboratory report?

Ask the reviewer before relying on it. Reject redactions that prevent authenticity, product matching or assessment of results. Agree secure access to the complete evidence rather than submitting an unusable extract.

Does a confidentiality agreement let me upload the report?

Do not assume so. Specify platform submission and verification as permitted purposes, check the recipients and laboratory terms, and confirm the separate permission to copy and use the report.
