Sourcing metal rabbit runs from China

Metal rabbit runs from China carry 2% UK duty across the candidate codes here, with no anti-dumping or countervailing duty recorded. Consumer products must be safe: assess exposed wire ends, folding joints and door catches, and confirm classification from the complete design. Cambridge China Bridge sources metal rabbit runs.

Duty depends on the finished rabbit run

Heading 7326 covers other articles of iron or steel. Steel-wire rabbit runs are candidates for 7326 20 00 90; other fabricated steel designs may need consideration under 7326 90 98 90. The table repeats candidate codes for different designs, rather than presenting separate tariff lines for each variant.

Read from the UK Trade Tariff on 5 October 2026, both candidate codes carry 2% duty for goods from China. Neither records anti-dumping or countervailing duty, a steel measure or a suspension. The fabricated-steel line attaches a torture and repression goods import prohibition and export restriction. The official notice lists banned imports by description; ask your customs broker to confirm the declaration requirement for rabbit runs.

Confirm the commodity code using drawings, materials, manufacturing details and photographs of the complete run. For the wider product family, see pet products.

Specify mesh, catches and ground connections

Specify the assembled footprint, height, wire thickness and clear mesh openings. Show openings around doors, hinges and panel joints separately. Identify whether the run has a roof, ground anchors or an attachment to a hutch, and approve the complete configuration. Assess trapping and escape risks against the intended rabbits rather than accepting a generic pet enclosure sample.

Agree weld quality, galvanised or painted finish, coating coverage at cut ends and the method of securing doors and roof panels. Consumer products must be safe during normal or reasonably foreseeable use. Trial assembly, folding and access for cleaning, checking finger traps and exposed ends. Keep the approved sample and drawings as the inspection reference.

Worked duty example

Illustrative example, not a quote: Illustrative order of 200 folding steel-wire rabbit runs under 7326 20 00 90, invoiced at £6,000 free on board, with £700 of freight and insurance to the UK. The customs value is £6,700. Duty at 2% is £134. Import VAT at 20% is charged on the customs value plus duty, £6,834, so it is £1,366.80. Import taxes total £1,500.80; a VAT-registered importer can usually reclaim the VAT, so the lasting cost is the £134 of duty. The import duty and VAT guide explains each step.

Inspection checklist

Mesh and gaps: measure clear openings, including gaps beside catches, under doors and between joined panels.

Welds and edges: check broken welds, projecting wire ends, burrs, bare metal, flaking coating and rust.

Assembly and retention: assemble the run using the supplied instructions; check catches, hinge movement, roof retention and ground-anchor fit.

Arrival condition: unpack samples from different cartons; check bent panels, missing fittings and coating damage, then compare with the retained sample.

What goes wrong

Panels can match the drawing individually yet leave escape gaps when connected. Loose catches, poorly retained roof clips and weak welds can open under pushing or handling. Approve the assembled run, including its hutch connection where supplied, and agree practical retention checks before production.

Folded panels can rub through coatings in transit, while bent frames make doors difficult to close. Require packing that protects corners and separates rubbing surfaces. Photograph arrival defects and separate affected stock for assessment. Businesses importing or selling consumer products remain responsible for their safety.

Frequently asked questions

What is the UK import duty on metal rabbit runs from China?

The supplied snapshot shows 2% duty on candidate codes 7326 20 00 90 and 7326 90 98 90, with no anti-dumping or countervailing duty recorded. Confirm classification for the complete design.

Which commodity code should I use for a rabbit run?

Steel-wire designs are candidates for 7326 20 00 90; other fabricated steel designs may fall under 7326 90 98 90. Give your broker drawings, material details and photographs of the assembled product.

What mesh spacing should I specify?

Specify clear openings against the intended rabbits and assess trapping and escape risks. Include gaps at doors, panel joints and the ground edge; nominal mesh spacing alone does not describe the assembled run.

How do I check a folding rabbit run before shipment?

Assemble and fold production samples, operate every catch, inspect wire ends and welds, and check roof and panel retention. Compare the complete assembly and fittings with the approved sample.
