Importing from China to Uruguay: Parcel relief limits

Uruguay's personal postal relief excludes commercial goods, so check the import route before ordering factory stock. Your own broker confirms the final entry; we coordinate sourcing, documents and inspection in China and quote to your Uruguayan port. Your UK-based sourcing company is Cambridge China Bridge.

Start with eligibility, not the parcel allowance

Uruguay's customs authority states that personal postal relief has an annual allowance of up to USD 800 and is for personal use only, without commercial purposes. Do not use that allowance to budget for stock bought for resale. The intended use matters before the order value.

Customs also states that its paid simplified regime can cover shipments with or without commercial purposes. Ask your own broker or carrier to confirm eligibility for the actual shipment before booking transport. For a factory order quoted to your port, establish the clearance route before paying the production deposit.

Give your Uruguayan broker the product brief

Customs states that a customs broker is compulsory under the general import regime. Appoint your own Uruguayan broker early and ask them to confirm the importer details, classification, final entry procedure and applicable duties and taxes. Agree that they prepare the declaration, coordinate customs queries and arrange release on arrival.

Send photographs, materials, intended use, model details and technical specifications. Ask for a written checklist covering any product registration, certification, import approval and labelling relevant to the goods. Use the Brazil guide and Chile guide when planning purchases for those destinations; obtain a separate assessment for Uruguay.

Agree the factory and seller document pack

We coordinate the commercial invoice and packing list with the Chinese factory and agreed seller. Ask your broker to review draft documents where a UK company sells goods shipped directly from China. Keep seller and buyer identities, product descriptions, quantities, carton contents and shipment references consistent.

Ask your broker whether a certificate of origin is needed and which form is acceptable; we arrange it with the exporter when agreed. We obtain available factory test reports and compare their model, materials and configuration with the order. Agree any additional testing before production, and coordinate the transport document with the forwarder.

Define what the price to your port includes

Cambridge China Bridge is a UK-based company with its own staff in China. We can source from Chinese factories and quote to your own Uruguayan port. Name the port and agree the delivery term, freight, insurance and destination charges included in the quotation. Obtain your broker's separate estimate for clearance, taxes and onward transport.

Send us your specification, intended use, importer details and broker contact so the purchasing and clearance plans fit together. The overseas buying guide explains the wider arrangement, while buying through a UK company explains the purchasing service.

Check the supplier and inspect before dispatch

Our staff in China check the supplier's identity, actual production site, equipment and ability to make the agreed product. We clarify which work is subcontracted, review the offered evidence and compare samples with your specification. Give the factory the broker's document and label checklist before approving production.

Before shipment, inspect finished goods against the approved sample, specification, packaging and label artwork. Record defects, corrective work and the shipment release decision; review the document pack alongside the inspection results. Factory audits and inspections are usually included in the quote; complex checks that need a third party are charged separately and agreed in advance.
