Importing from China to Zambia: TPIN
Start with importer registration: Zambia's government trade portal says an importer must register with the Zambia Revenue Authority for a TPIN. Ask your broker to check the product before ordering, and name the seaport or border point for your quote. Your UK sourcing contact is Cambridge China Bridge.
Buying from China for a business? How our UK China sourcing agent service works · China sourcing agent for businesses outside the UK

Start with the importer's TPIN
Zambia's government trade portal states that an importer wishing to import goods must register with the Zambia Revenue Authority for a Tax Payer Identification Number, or TPIN. Settle whose business will import the goods and ask your own customs broker to check that registration before you commit to a factory order.
Buying through a UK company still needs a clear division of work between sourcing in China and importing into Zambia. Our guide for buyers outside the UK explains the wider arrangement; this guide adds Zambia's registration gate and the handover to your broker.
Check compulsory standards before approving production
The government's compulsory-standards inspection procedure says that a non-conforming product requires corrective action, while a conforming product receives a certificate of conformance. Before approving production, ask your broker to confirm whether your exact product falls within that procedure and what evidence the Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency needs.
Send the broker the model, intended use, materials, photographs, proposed labels and available test reports. Ask for a written document checklist. If your route involves a regional seaport, use our Tanzania guide or South Africa guide for planning context, then have the forwarder confirm the transit arrangements for your Zambian shipment.
Agree the document pack with your broker
We work with the Chinese factory to assemble the commercial invoice and packing list, arrange a certificate of origin where requested, and collect available test reports. Ask your broker to approve draft documents before shipment. Compare the seller, buyer, product descriptions, quantities, package details and shipping marks across the pack.
Check that test reports identify the model and construction you are buying. Agree any additional testing before production. Tell us that the goods are made in China and destined for Zambia when requesting the paperwork; ask your broker to confirm how origin should be documented for your entry.
Check the factory and inspect the actual shipment
Cambridge China Bridge is a UK-based sourcing company with its own staff in China. We check the supplier's identity, production location and ability to make the agreed product, then compare samples and production against your written specification. Our buy-through-UK-company service explains the purchasing arrangement.
Before shipment, we inspect the agreed product features, workmanship, quantities, labels and packaging, and report discrepancies for a decision before dispatch. Keep the approved sample and inspection record tied to the order. Factory audits and inspections are usually included in the quote; complex checks that need a third party are charged separately and agreed in advance.

Name your seaport or border point in the quote
Zambia is landlocked. We quote to the seaport or border point you name, with the onward leg agreed separately. State the exact delivery point and agreed trade term, and ask the quote to identify freight, insurance, terminal handling and exclusions. If the price ends at a seaport, agree who books and pays for transit and inland transport.
At arrival, your own customs broker handles the agreed declaration and clearance work, confirms the final entry, checks duties and taxes, and coordinates any product-agency queries. Give the broker the document pack before dispatch. Ask the forwarder and broker to agree their handover through the transit route and into Zambia.
