Start with an enabled importer registration

Aduana Nacional states that importers whose registration is disabled cannot carry out import operations. Ask your broker to check your status and resolve any registration issue before you approve the order.

Send the broker the product description, materials, intended use and proposed model. Request a written checklist covering classification, product registration, certification and labelling for that exact purchase. Pass the agreed requirements to us before the factory prepares samples or packaging.

Name the seaport or border point in the quotation

Bolivia is landlocked, so a quote to your own port means the seaport or border point you name. Specify the country, location and handover point. Agree the onward leg separately, including who arranges collection, transit, border handling and delivery within Bolivia.

Ask for goods, freight, insurance and excluded destination charges to be identified separately. If comparing routes through neighbouring countries, read the Peru guide and Chile guide, then have your forwarder distinguish transit arrangements from an import into either country.

Agree the document pack before shipment

We coordinate the commercial invoice and packing list with the Chinese factory. Check the buyer and seller details, product descriptions, quantities, weights, carton references and delivery terms against the actual order. Send drafts to your broker so corrections happen before dispatch.

We obtain a certificate of origin and factory test reports where agreed for the order. Ask your broker which origin evidence and reports it needs, and in whose name. Match reports to the actual model and materials; ask the broker to confirm whether further assessment is needed before accepting them.

Check the supplier and inspect the production

Our own staff in China check the supplier's identity, production location, manufacturing capability and relationship to the payment beneficiary. Agree a written specification and keep an approved sample. Identify subcontracted work and require approval before changes to materials, components or packaging.

Before shipment, inspect production against the agreed sample and specification, including function, workmanship, quantities, labels and packing. Record defects with photographs and agree corrective work before releasing the shipment. Set the inspection scope and payment checkpoints in writing when arranging to buy through a UK company.

Give your broker control of the arrival handover

Arrange for your own Bolivian customs broker to review the final document pack, confirm the final entry, calculate applicable duties and taxes, coordinate clearance and advise on release. Ask the broker and forwarder to agree who handles transit from the named handover point and any customs examination.

Keep the transport document, invoice, packing list and agreed supporting evidence together. Give the broker a contact for document corrections and the forwarder a clear delivery instruction. The overseas buying guide explains the wider division between our China-side work and your destination arrangements.
