Start with import licensing

The Myanmar National Trade Portal states that import licences are needed for all goods. Its registration procedure also describes collecting an Exporter/Importer Registration Certificate to apply for an export/import licence at the Ministry of Commerce. Start your purchasing plan with the Myanmar importer and their own customs broker.

Before paying a factory deposit, ask the broker to confirm your registration status, the licensing route for the exact goods and what approval evidence they want before shipment. Send the product description, materials, intended use and proposed port together, so the broker can review a specific order.

Agree a price to your Myanmar port

Cambridge China Bridge is a UK-based sourcing company with its own staff in China. We can source from Chinese factories and quote to your nominated Myanmar port. Ask the quotation to name the destination port, shipping term, insurance arrangements and included handling charges.

Ask your broker for a separate arrival-cost estimate covering clearance, duties and taxes, destination handling and onward delivery. Agree any door-to-door work explicitly. Our overseas buying guide explains the wider service; buying through a UK company helps you frame the purchasing arrangement.

Prepare the documents before loading

Agree the document pack with your broker before production. The factory supplies product descriptions, packing details and available test reports. We coordinate the commercial invoice and packing list, arrange a certificate of origin where agreed, and collect the reports specified in the order. Confirm who issues each document and when the broker will review its draft.

Where we invoice you as the UK seller while the goods ship from China, show the broker the proposed invoice chain and origin documents before shipment. Ask them to confirm the documents they will use for entry. Check that names, goods descriptions, quantities, weights and carton marks agree across the pack.

Check the factory and inspect the goods

Our China staff check the supplier's identity, production location and ability to make the agreed product. We compare the proposed materials, equipment and sample with your specification, and ask who will perform any subcontracted work. Agree the inspection criteria before production starts.

Before shipment, inspect workmanship, dimensions, function, quantities, packaging and labels against the agreed specification and approved sample. Match test reports to the actual model and materials. Send findings and unresolved defects to you before shipment approval. Factory audits and inspections are usually included in the quote; complex checks that need a third party are charged separately and agreed in advance.

Give your broker a complete arrival handover

Instruct your own Myanmar customs broker to review classification and valuation, confirm the final entry, arrange declaration work and payment of assessed duties and taxes, and coordinate any Customs queries, examination and release. Send the agreed documents and transport details before arrival, with a named contact for questions about the goods.

Keep separate destination checklists if you also buy for neighbouring markets. Our Thailand guide covers Thai clearance preparation, while the Bangladesh guide explains checking dates on official guidance. Use those pages for their destinations and ask your Myanmar broker to confirm this shipment.
