Check the licence position before choosing a factory

Grenada's published Supplies Control Regulations prohibit importing goods without a licence, subject to releases from control. They allow the Controller of Supplies to release goods through a Gazette notice, including releases specific to a country or person. Ask your Grenadian customs broker to establish which controls or releases cover your proposed Chinese goods.

Send the broker the product description, materials, intended use, model and country of manufacture. Request a written purchasing checklist covering the licence position and any product approvals, testing or labels to investigate. Make that checklist part of the factory enquiry, before committing to production.

Agree what the price to your port includes

Give us your specification, quantity, packing requirements and destination port in Grenada. We can source from Chinese factories and quote to your own port through our UK company. Agree the delivery term, freight and insurance arrangements, and identify destination handling, clearance and onward delivery costs separately.

Use the overseas buying guide for the wider procurement process and buying through a UK company for the purchasing arrangement. For orders serving other markets, the Colombia guide and Mexico guide help you prepare separate destination checklists.

Build the document pack with your broker

We coordinate the commercial invoice and packing list with the Chinese factory and the agreed seller. Have your broker review drafts for the buyer's details, goods descriptions, values and delivery term. Match the packing list to the finished shipment's carton contents, quantities, weights and shipping marks.

If your broker requests a certificate of origin, agree its form and issuer before we arrange it with the exporter. We obtain available factory test reports or coordinate agreed testing. Check that reports cover the actual model, materials and configuration. Send proposed labels to the broker for review before the factory prints them.

Check the supplier, then inspect the finished order

Our own staff in China check the supplier's identity, production location and ability to make your specification. We review relevant equipment, processes and sample quality, and ask where subcontracted work will take place. Record the approved sample and written acceptance criteria so the factory and inspector work to the same brief.

Before shipment, we inspect the finished goods against the agreed specification and sample, including selected checks of function, finish, quantities, packaging and labels. We report defects and check agreed corrections before seeking your shipment release. Keep inspection findings, laboratory reports and the broker's import checklist as separate evidence.

Give your Grenadian broker control of the arrival

Appoint your own customs broker in Grenada and agree their arrival work: confirming classification, valuation and the final entry, preparing the declaration, calculating local duties and taxes, and coordinating clearance and release. Supply the invoice, packing list, carrier's transport document and the supporting evidence they request.

Before booking shipment, ask the broker to review the completed document pack and flag outstanding approvals or advance filings. Agree who answers customs queries and who arranges collection after release. Send us the broker's checklist with your product brief so the work in China supports the clearance plan.
