Importing from China to Jamaica: Permit checks
Start with the product's permit status. Jamaica Customs says traders must check whether a permit is required, and restricted goods arriving without one breach the Customs Act. Your own Jamaican broker confirms the final entry. For factory checks, shipment documents and a quote to your port, use Cambridge China Bridge.

Check the permit gate before booking shipment
Jamaica Customs says traders must check whether a permit is required and that regulated commodities need permits. It also states that restricted goods arriving without a valid permit breach the Customs Act. Before committing to shipment, ask your Jamaican customs broker to identify whether your exact product is regulated, which authority handles it and what approval you need.
Send the broker the intended use, materials, model details and proposed label artwork. Request a written checklist covering any licence, product registration, certification, testing or labelling applicable to your goods. Give us that checklist before approving production so the factory's work follows the requirements established in Jamaica.
Agree a quote to your Jamaican port
Tell us your product specification, quantity, packing requirements and destination port in Jamaica. We can quote to your own port. Ask the quotation to state the delivery term, freight and insurance arrangements, together with the destination handling, clearance and onward delivery costs left for you to arrange.
Our overseas buying guide explains the wider sourcing service. Use buying through a UK company to agree who sells to you, who receives payment and which documents each party supplies. Have your broker review that arrangement before the commercial invoice is finalised.
Agree the factory documents before dispatch
We coordinate the commercial invoice and packing list with the Chinese factory and the agreed seller. Ask your broker to review drafts for the importer and seller names, product descriptions, quantities, values and delivery term. Match carton counts, weights and shipping marks to the finished shipment, and reconcile the documents with the carrier's bill of lading.
Where your broker requests a certificate of origin, we arrange it with the exporter. We obtain the factory's existing test reports or coordinate agreed testing. Ask the broker to confirm the acceptable issuer and scope, then match each report to the actual model, materials and configuration. Agree any label changes before printing and packing.
Check the supplier and inspect the finished order
Our own staff in China check the supplier's identity, production site and capability against your specification. We establish where the goods will be made, review relevant equipment and processes, and ask about subcontracting. Keep an approved sample and a written specification so the factory and inspector use the same acceptance criteria.
Before shipment, we inspect the finished order against those criteria, including agreed checks of function, finish, quantities, packaging and labels. Record defects, corrections and your shipment release decision. Keep this inspection separate from laboratory testing and Jamaican import approval; ask your broker to review the completed document pack before dispatch.

Your own broker handles arrival in Jamaica
Jamaica Customs requires commercial clearance through its electronic single administrative document on the ASYCUDA system. Arrange for your own Jamaican broker to prepare the declaration, confirm the final entry, classification and valuation, calculate local duties and taxes, and coordinate examination and release. Send the agreed shipment documents ahead and ask what importer tax records or authorisations they need from you.
Keep local handling, possible storage and onward transport visible in your budget. If you also buy for other destinations, use the Mexico guide and Colombia guide for separate local checklists. Send Cambridge China Bridge your Jamaican port and broker's checklist so sourcing, documents and shipment planning fit your order.
