Start with product permits: Panama customs checks compliance with permits and licences from other government agencies. Buying from China for a business? How our UK China sourcing agent service works · China sourcing agent for businesses outside the UK

Make product permits your first check
Panama’s Autoridad Nacional de Aduanas includes checking non-tariff obligations, specifically permits and licences from other government agencies, in its documentary clearance procedure. Before choosing a Chinese factory, ask your own Panamanian customs broker to identify which product permissions apply to your proposed goods.
Send photographs, materials, intended use and model details. Request a written checklist identifying the authority, applicant, supporting evidence and point at which each approval is needed. Ask separately about importer registration, product registration, certification and labels. Use that checklist to decide what must be settled before production or dispatch.
Define the quote to your Panama port
Give us your product brief, quantity, packing requirements and destination port. We can quote through our UK company for shipment from China to your own Panama port. Record the delivery term, freight and insurance arrangements, destination handling and onward delivery responsibilities before comparing quotations.
The overseas buying guide explains the wider sourcing service. Use buying through a UK company to frame the purchasing arrangement, then ask your broker to review the proposed seller, importer and shipping-document details together.
Build a document pack that matches the transaction
We coordinate the commercial invoice and packing list with the factory and agreed seller. Panama customs’ published invoice requirements include a detailed goods description by brand, model or style. Give the broker draft documents showing the actual selling arrangement, product descriptions and values; reconcile the packing list with the finished shipment.
Where your broker requests a certificate of origin, we coordinate it with the exporter. We obtain existing factory test reports or arrange agreed testing, checking that the model and construction match your order. Ask the broker to confirm acceptable issuers, language and scope, and review label artwork before printing.
Check the factory, then inspect the finished goods
Our staff in China check the supplier’s identity, actual production address and capability against your brief. Ask us to establish who makes the goods, which work is subcontracted and whether the equipment and processes suit the specification. Keep the approved sample, specifications and broker’s document checklist with the order.
Before shipment, we inspect against the agreed sample and specification, including function, finish, quantities, packaging and approved labels. Request photographs, recorded findings and evidence of corrections before authorising release. Treat inspection findings and laboratory test reports as separate evidence, and have your broker assess the import documents.

Give your own broker control of the arrival
Agree that your Panamanian customs broker will confirm the final entry, classification and valuation, prepare the declaration, calculate applicable local charges and coordinate clearance and release. Before booking shipment, send the completed invoice, packing list, available transport-document draft and requested product evidence for their review.
Keep a shared list of outstanding documents and who will supply them. Ask the broker to identify any action needed before arrival and confirm the destination costs remaining outside our quote. If you also buy for Colombia or Mexico, obtain a separate destination checklist for each shipment.
