Buying from China for a business? How our UK China sourcing agent service works · China sourcing agent for businesses outside the UK

Start with the importing company's registration
Brunei Customs states that companies must be registered with the Royal Customs and Excise Department. Before committing to a Chinese factory, ask your own Brunei customs broker to check the importing company's registration and the arrangements for representing it. Identify the importer, consignee, Chinese exporter and UK seller in the proposed transaction.
The Ministry of Finance and Economy says registration is not compulsory for individuals, but advises using registered customs agents. Tell your broker whether you are buying personally or through a business. Our overseas buying guide explains the wider sourcing service; this guide adds Brunei's registration and shipment handover checks.
Check controlled goods before approving the order
Brunei Customs states that restricted and controlled goods require the necessary licence or permit before importation. Send your broker the product specification, materials, intended use, photographs and model details. Ask them to identify the responsible authority and confirm the applicable approval route before you approve production.
Ask your broker to specify any product registration, certification, testing or labelling evidence needed for your particular goods. Give that checklist to us before samples and packaging are approved. For destination comparisons, see the Malaysia guide and Singapore guide; obtain a separate Brunei assessment for this order.
Agree a quote to your own Brunei port
Tell us your named destination port, specification, quantity and proposed importer. We can quote to your own port. Ask the quote to identify the delivery term, freight, insurance arrangements, included destination charges and the point where responsibility transfers. Ask your broker for a separate estimate covering clearance, applicable duties and taxes, port charges and onward delivery.
When buying through our UK company, agree who sells and invoices the goods and who exports from China. Send the proposed transaction and invoice chain to your broker before accepting the quote. Ask which commercial invoice they will use and what supporting transaction records they want.
Prepare the documents for your own broker
We coordinate the commercial invoice and packing list with the factory, exporter and agreed seller. The factory supplies packing details and available model-specific test reports; we check these against the order. Where your broker requests a certificate of origin, we coordinate it with the China-side exporter and confirm the requested form before shipment. Agree who supplies the bill of lading.
Brunei Customs requires Customs Import Declarations to be submitted through its national single window. Arrange for your own broker to review draft documents before dispatch and handle the declaration, classification, valuation, applicable payments and arrival clearance. Ask them to coordinate any inspection and cargo release. The buyer's own customs broker confirms the final entry.

Verify the supplier and inspect before shipment
Our own staff in China check the supplier's identity, production site and ability to make the agreed product. For your Brunei order, we also ask whether the factory can supply the evidence on your broker's checklist. Match test reports to the actual model and configuration, and flag missing or mismatched evidence before approving production.
Before shipment, we inspect against the specification, approved sample, packaging and artwork, record defects and request agreed corrections. Ask us to include your broker's confirmed label and document checks in the release brief. You approve shipment against the findings. On charges, factory audits and inspections are usually included in the quote; complex checks that need a third party are charged separately and agreed in advance.
