Amazon UK FBA trial not selling: how to exit
Set a review date and spending cap, check current storage and removal charges in your seller account, and compare clearance with recovery. Arrange a receiving address before requesting return, then reconcile quantities, condition and fees before reordering. Share the factory follow-up brief with Cambridge China Bridge.

Set the exit trigger before spending more
Write an exit brief before sending trial stock: the review date, maximum further spending, evidence needed to continue and who approves removal. If stock is already unsold, prepare it now. Export a dated inventory position by product and variant, separating available, reserved, unfulfillable and incoming goods. Record sales after customer returns, advertising spending and actual cash receipts.
Compare continuing the trial, clearing stock at a revised price and returning it to a warehouse. For each route, estimate future receipts less the costs still needed to achieve them. Keep money already spent visible in the trial result, but do not let it justify further spending. Use unsold first-batch decisions for diagnosing demand and listing problems.
Check current storage and removal charges
Open Amazon's current UK pricing page and the storage, aged inventory, storage utilisation and removal fee help in Seller Central. Save the applicable tables and effective dates. Match your products to the recorded packaged dimensions, weight, category and destination. Ask support about unclear classifications. Our packaging and FBA fee guide covers the packaging check.
Calculate expected storage through your chosen review date and separately estimate return removal charges for the intended quantities. Ask how pending removal affects each charge; do not assume submitting a request stops every fee. Add warehouse receiving, counting, sorting, repacking, storage and onward delivery quotes. Amazon's FBA New Selection programme offers temporary storage and removal benefits for eligible products; verify eligibility and remaining benefits before budgeting them.
Arrange the destination before requesting return
Choose a receiving warehouse or business address that can accept and inspect the goods. Agree the contact, delivery arrangements, receiving charges, capacity and handling instructions. Confirm that the destination is accepted by the removal workflow. For an eventual return to the factory, obtain a separate onward transport quote and written factory acceptance before committing.
Check the removal action, products, quantities and address before authorising return. Review automated removal settings and outstanding notices so they match your plan. Save the order reference and track shipments, cancellations and quantities still awaiting removal. Keep unresolved quantities open. If goods were refused at delivery rather than received into Amazon's network, follow rejected-stock recovery.
Reconcile physical stock and charges
Give the warehouse a receiving sheet linked to the removal reference, product identifiers and expected variants. Ask it to record each arrival, carton labels, physical unit counts, condition and photographs. Separate saleable stock, goods needing work and unusable goods. Allow for split arrivals and count the contents rather than accepting the parcel count as the inventory count.
Match requested quantities to Amazon's shipped quantities, warehouse receipts, cancelled quantities and the unresolved balance without counting a unit twice. Amazon directs sellers to Transaction view for shipment-level removal and disposal charges. Match those entries to the removal records and query unexplained differences with supporting documents. A charge or completed status alone does not prove warehouse receipt. Keep uncertain goods out of usable stock.

Close the trial before approving a reorder
Prepare a closing sheet showing sales receipts, customer refunds, advertising, platform charges, recovery costs and the physical stock remaining. Show possible resale proceeds separately from cash already recovered. Use valuing unsold imported stock for the separate accounting treatment. Do not use the original retail price as evidence that the exit recovered your purchase cost.
Before reordering, deduct verified usable recovered stock and incoming goods from the justified requirement for each variant. Leave shortages and uncertain stock clearly marked while investigating them. Record what changes in the next trial, its cash ceiling and approval conditions. Cambridge China Bridge's own staff in China can coordinate factory quotations and agreed product or packing changes against that brief. For the next trial, see self-fulfilment or FBA. For bag preparation in the next trial, see our FBA plastic bag sample checks.
Frequently asked questions
What should I do if my Amazon UK FBA trial does not sell?
Set a review date and further-spending cap. Compare clearance, continued selling and return using current charges and realistic receipts. Arrange a receiving destination before approving removal.
How do I check current FBA storage and removal fees?
Use Amazon's current UK pricing and Seller Central fee help. Match the applicable tables to your product records, intended quantities and return destination. Save effective dates and check any eligible benefits.
Does requesting removal stop all storage charges?
Do not assume it does. Check the current treatment of pending removals for each charge and query unclear entries. Track cancelled and outstanding quantities until the exit is reconciled.
Can I reorder before all removed stock arrives?
Base the decision on verified usable stock, incoming goods, demand and available cash. Keep uncertain recoveries separate. Do not approve a replacement purchase simply because a removal request was submitted.
