Getting started

Amazon UK Brand Registry before my first order?

Yes. Prepare the trademark records, permanent branding and photographs before committing to your first own-brand batch. Ask for a physical branded sample and hold bulk printing until you have reviewed the evidence. Factory samples and packaging checks can be coordinated by Cambridge China Bridge.

Check the trademark route before ordering

Amazon accepts pending and registered trademarks for Brand Registry. Check the current UK-specific enrolment requirements against your actual trademark record before approving branded stock. Gather the application or registration number, owner details and mark image. When choosing between a word mark and a logo, check the accepted mark types in the application rather than assuming any logo qualifies.

Confirm with Amazon who should apply and how the trademark text should match the application's brand name. Keep ownership and account access under your control. For the underlying filing decision, use our UK product name and logo guide. Trademark filing does not guarantee registration: the IPO says issues must be resolved before registration.

Specify permanent branding on the goods or packaging

Amazon requires your brand name, or a logo containing it, to be permanently affixed to the product or packaging. Its staff guidance gives printing, sewing, laser etching and engraving as examples. Choose the method with the factory against the actual material and finish, then inspect a physical sample.

Amazon's guidance does not treat stickers, labels, hanging tags or stamps as permanent branding because they can be added or removed after production. Do not approve a loose tag or removable sticker as your branding solution. If you plan to use packaging, specify the customer-facing pack and inspect it with the product inside.

Photograph the physical branded sample

Amazon's staff guidance excludes stock images, digitally altered images and computer-generated mock-ups. Ask the factory to photograph the physical sample and its actual packaging. Keep artwork previews for design approval, and commission separate photographs for the application.

Ask for an overall view, a close view of the brand and views showing how it is attached. Use clear lighting and check that the spelling is readable. Keep the original files with the sample identity and artwork version. If the branding changes, photograph the revised physical sample instead of editing the earlier photograph.

Put the packaging instructions into the order

Give the factory the approved brand wording, artwork file, placement, size, colour reference and branding method. Specify which retail pack carries the branding and what goes inside it. Require a physical branded sample before bulk printing, with written approval from a named person in your business.

State that the factory must seek approval before changing artwork, branding methods or packaging. Agree what happens to rejected prints and unused packaging. Our factory artwork approval guide covers print approval; use it alongside this brief so the photographed sample and production packaging follow the same approved version.

Separate application readiness from production release

Before releasing bulk printing, compare the trademark record, application brand name, sample branding and photographs side by side. Record unresolved questions and assign someone to deal with Amazon's response. If enrolment is essential to your launch plan, make its outcome an explicit production decision point rather than assuming the sample guarantees acceptance.

Use our Amazon UK sourcing guide for account and listing preparation. If you are considering an unbranded trial, read selling generic and branding later before choosing that route. Cambridge China Bridge's own staff in China can coordinate physical samples, original photographs and packaging checks against your approved brief.

Frequently asked questions

Can I apply for Brand Registry with a pending trademark?

Amazon accepts pending trademarks. Check the current UK-specific requirements against your application record; a trademark filing does not guarantee registration or Brand Registry acceptance.

Does my brand need to be on the product or packaging?

Amazon requires permanent branding on the product or packaging. Specify the branding method and inspect the physical sample before approving bulk printing.

Can I use a branded sticker for Brand Registry?

Amazon's staff guidance does not treat stickers as permanently affixed branding. Agree a production branding method with the factory and check it on a physical sample.

No. Amazon's guidance excludes computer-generated mock-ups and digitally altered images. Ask for photographs of the physical branded sample and actual packaging.
