RMB Exchange Rate for Importers: GBP, USD, EUR to CNY
These are HMRC monthly customs rates, not live market exchange rates. CNY per GBP comes directly from the official monthly tables; USD and EUR per CNY are derived from that same month's GBP-based rates.
How the cross-rates work and when to use them
USD per CNY = HMRC USD per GBP ÷ HMRC CNY per GBP; EUR per CNY uses the same calculation. The GBP column displays four decimal places and derived columns six. These are customs-based monthly cross-rates, not separately published HMRC live USD/CNY or EUR/CNY quotes.
Keep customs valuation separate from the supplier payment budget. Actual conversion depends on your bank or payment provider's rate and fees when you pay.
Onshore CNY and offshore CNH
Renminbi traded in mainland China's market is commonly called onshore CNY; renminbi traded outside the mainland is commonly called offshore CNH. These are different markets for RMB and their exchange rates can differ.

Why USD and CNY supplier quotes matter
Compare quotes for the same specification, quantity and Incoterm. Confirm the quote currency, settlement currency, validity, bank fees and any agreed conversion rate in writing. A USD quote may contain the supplier's own exchange-rate assumption; the HMRC monthly rate does not establish a price the supplier will accept.
