Can warranty registration allow marketing emails?
Registration alone does not give permission to send promotional emails. For individual subscribers, obtain valid email-marketing consent or meet every products and services soft-opt-in condition. Keep warranty and safety administration separate from promotions. Discuss your factory registration materials with Cambridge China Bridge.

Separate registration from promotion
Treat warranty administration, safety contact and email marketing as separate purposes on your registration form. Explain what the contact details will be used for when collecting them. Do not treat submitting the form as marketing consent: valid consent needs a clear, positive choice.
Keep registration confirmations and safety messages focused on their administrative purpose. Pure service messages without promotion are outside direct marketing; adding advertising makes them marketing messages. For handling a safety issue itself, see recalling imported products.
Check whose address you are collecting
Unsolicited marketing emails to individual subscribers need consent or an applicable soft opt-in. Individual subscribers include consumers, sole traders and ordinary partnerships. Corporate subscribers, such as limited companies, do not need consent or a soft opt-in under these email rules, but sender identification and an unsubscribe contact address still apply.
If you use personal information, you also need a valid data protection lawful basis. Record the recipient category rather than assuming that every business-looking address belongs to a corporate subscriber. Keep this assessment separate from the product checks in sourcing electronics from China.
Make marketing consent a separate choice
Use an unticked, optional box that names your business and explicitly asks for permission to send promotional emails. Consent must be freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous. Pre-ticked boxes, silence and inactivity do not establish consent. People must be able to refuse without detriment.
A practical form label is: “I would like promotional emails from [your business name] about its products.” Adapt it to your actual scope. Let customers complete warranty or safety registration without selecting it. Save the wording shown, the person's choice, and when and how they made it.
Use the soft opt-in only when everything fits
For the products and services soft opt-in, you must collect the address directly from the recipient during a sale or negotiations for a sale. Marketing must concern your own similar products or services. Provide a simple opt-out when collecting the address and in every subsequent marketing message. Do not send to someone who has opted out.
Apply those conditions to the actual registration journey. A manufacturer receiving registrations from people who bought through a retailer should not assume that this establishes a sale or sales negotiation with the manufacturer. Registration alone is insufficient evidence. A missing collection-stage opt-out cannot be repaired merely by adding unsubscribe wording to a later confirmation.

Keep opt-outs effective across your systems
Identify the sender and provide a valid address for unsubscribe requests. Make withdrawal easy and stop unsolicited marketing when someone withdraws consent or opts out of the soft opt-in. For soft-opt-in messages, include an easy unsubscribe route every time; do not require customers to create an account or log in.
Maintain a marketing suppression list and check it before sending. Keep the marketing status distinct from warranty and safety records so an import does not reactivate an unsubscribed address. Before approving factory-printed registration cards, test the form, confirmation and unsubscribe journey. Agree who maintains the warranty records using warranty administration terms.
Frequently asked questions
Does warranty registration count as marketing consent?
No. Submitting registration details is not a clear, separate agreement to promotional emails. Obtain valid consent or establish every applicable soft-opt-in condition.
Can a manufacturer email customers who bought elsewhere?
Do not assume the soft opt-in applies. It needs direct collection during your sale or sales negotiations, your own similar products, and opt-outs at collection and in subsequent messages.
Can we put an offer in a safety email?
Adding advertising turns a pure service message into direct marketing. Keep safety instructions separate and assess permission before sending promotional content.
Can customers unsubscribe without logging in?
Yes. Provide a simple route, such as a clear unsubscribe link or direct reply. Requiring account creation or login is not a simple soft-opt-in opt-out.
