Marketplace account suspended: how to claim a refund

Contact the marketplace through its official help channels and ask for an order claim alongside your suspension appeal. Preserve receipts and the access error, and contact your card issuer promptly to confirm its separate deadline. Supplier evidence can be assembled with help from Cambridge China Bridge.

Ask for order support outside the blocked account

Open the marketplace’s official website yourself and look for its help centre, contact form or buyer support chat. If the order screen requires a blocked login, try the public support entry point. Use an email address only if it is published by the platform or verified through an existing support case. Record any route that also refuses access.

Give your registered email, account name, order reference and payment receipt. Explain that suspension prevents you from submitting or following an order claim. Ask support to record the missing-order or refund request, provide a case reference and explain how you can supply evidence without logging in. Ask whether the suspension affects an existing dispute or approved refund.

Recover evidence without changing the originals

Save the suspension notice, the exact login error and dated screenshots of failed attempts to reach the dispute screen. Recover order confirmations, invoices, payment receipts, tracking messages and refund correspondence from email and downloaded files. Ask the supplier for copies of the order and dispatch records, and ask support for the order history and dispute record.

Keep original files and messages, then prepare a labelled chronology explaining what is missing and which records you cannot access. Separate a refund request, an approval message and money actually received. For listing details to preserve, see saving a marketplace listing. Avoid deleting the account or altering screenshots while assembling the claim.

Appeal the suspension alongside the order claim

Ask for the stated suspension reason, the relevant account rule and the available review route. Submit a factual appeal addressing that reason, with account ownership evidence requested through a verified channel. Explain any mismatch between the registered buyer, company name and payer. Ask for a written decision and keep the appeal reference separate from the order claim reference.

If an automated reply sends you back to an inaccessible order screen, attach the access error and ask for a staff review or an alternative submission route. Request access to order records even if buying access remains restricted. Avoid opening replacement accounts to bypass the restriction. Our guide to using Alibaba safely covers order protection and its limits.

Keep the card issuer’s deadline separate

Contact your UK card issuer promptly while support and the appeal are ongoing. Chargeback scheme rules set submission time limits for issuers. Ask which route applies to your business purchase, what event starts the deadline, when your documents are needed and when the issuer must submit the claim. Record these separately from platform reply dates; do not assume an appeal pauses the card deadline.

Send the receipt, missing-order or unpaid-refund evidence, and proof that account access prevents further platform action. Explain any gaps rather than waiting to recover every document. Our guide to marketplace card disputes covers payment intermediaries and business purchases. If the issuer asks you to wait for the marketplace, request written clarification of how it will handle the applicable deadline.

Follow the refund through to receipt

For an approved but missing refund, ask support for the destination payment method, processing status and any refund tracing reference. Ask the issuer to check that reference against your account. Tell the platform and issuer about any money received, and ask how a partial refund affects the remaining claim before closing a case.

If support refuses further action, request its written reason and available review route, then add the response to your issuer file. Cambridge China Bridge has its own staff in China and can help assemble supplier communications and order evidence. Account reinstatement and card-dispute decisions remain with the platform and issuer respectively.

Frequently asked questions

Can I ask for a refund if my marketplace account is suspended?

Use verified support channels outside the order screen. Ask support to record the order claim separately from the suspension appeal and explain how you can submit evidence. Keep proof of any access refusal.

What if support keeps telling me to log in?

Send the exact access error and order reference. Ask for a staff review, an alternative submission route and copies of the order records. Save the replies and contact your card issuer promptly.

Should I wait for my account appeal before calling my bank?

Contact the issuer promptly. Ask it to confirm the applicable deadline and evidence needed for your business purchase. Do not assume the platform appeal pauses the card-dispute timetable.

My refund was approved but has not arrived. What should I ask for?

Ask for the destination payment method, processing status and refund tracing reference. Give that reference to your issuer. Keep the approval message and check the account for the actual credit.
