Sourcing Lasagne Sheets from China
Lasagne sheets from China have a conditional 0% duty suspension; standard uncooked-sheet rates are 6% plus £17 to £20 per 100 kg. Check the suspension wording against the recipe rather than assuming every flour blend qualifies. Egg and rice variants need separate import-control checks. Cambridge China Bridge sources lasagne sheets.

Lasagne sheet duty and recipe checks
Read from the UK Trade Tariff on 30 September 2026, heading 1902 covers pasta, including lasagne. This guide concerns separate sheets, rather than assembled lasagne meals. Uncooked sheets are divided by egg content, common wheat flour or meal, and rice. Durum wheat and common wheat should be identified separately in the supplier's recipe.
The selected lines show an autonomous suspension to 0.00%, with no recorded anti-dumping or countervailing duty. Standard rates are 6% plus £20 per 100 kg, or 6% plus £17 per 100 kg for the common-wheat lines. The suspension footnote excludes mixtures, preparations or products made up of different components containing these products. Ask your broker to confirm eligibility for the exact sheets before using the suspended rate.
The tariff attaches veterinary control to the egg line, and organic and genetically modified organism controls to the selected lines. Confirm the applicable requirements with your customs broker, especially for egg, rice or organic recipes. Give the full ingredients and processing description when checking the commodity code. For the wider heading, see pasta, noodles and dumplings.

Specify sheets that fit the dish and cooking method
Specify the flour species and blend, egg ingredients, any rice or vegetable additions, and whether the sheets are dried or chilled. Agree length, width, thickness, edge shape and packing orientation against a retained sample. State whether buyers will pre-boil the sheets or place them directly into sauce, then trial the intended cooking method for sticking, tearing and uneven softening.
Egg-containing sheets can involve composite-product rules: approval checks and documents depend on ingredients and processing. Exempt composite products must travel with an exporter’s commercial document. Do not assume drying alone proves exemption. For rice sheets, no genetically modified rice products are authorised in the UK; ask your broker to confirm the testing, entry documents and border requirements for the Chinese recipe.
For organic sheets, the certificate of inspection is issued by the exporter’s control body in the country of export. Confirm the import-control requirements with your broker before dispatch. Ask the relevant local authority to confirm food-business registration requirements and which retail-label details must appear in English, including the name, ingredients with allergens emphasised, net quantity, dates, storage information and a UK address.
Inspection checklist
Shape: compare dimensions, thickness, flatness and broken corners with the approved sample; test fit in the intended catering dish.
Cooking: use the agreed sauce and preparation method; check separation, softness through the sheet, tearing and texture after holding.
Condition: check moisture against the agreed specification, musty odours, visible mould, pests and batch-specific contaminant results.
Packing: check seals, cushioning, pack weights and date coding; compare the English ingredient and allergen text with the actual production recipe. Use the inspection guide to set the inspection brief.
What goes wrong
Thin sheets can arrive cracked when packs leave room for movement. Damp sheets can stick together or develop mould, while uneven thickness leaves hard centres and soft edges in the same dish. Test packed production samples as well as loose factory samples, and assess the cooked sheets using the buyer’s actual preparation method.
A flour substitution or an added egg ingredient can change the cooking result, label and import-control assessment. Require recipe changes to be agreed before production, retain an approved sample, and reconcile the shipment recipe with the customs description. A zero-rate tariff suspension does not settle food-import eligibility.
