Animal products in fillings
Noodles and dumplings containing meat, fish, egg or dairy can be products of animal origin or composite products. GOV.UK guidance requires such goods to come from approved countries and establishments, with health certificates, IPAFFS pre-notification and border checks. Plain wheat or rice noodles avoid those controls, which is why many importers choose vegetable fillings.
Labels and food law
The importer must register as a food business. Labels need the name, ingredients with allergens emphasised (wheat, egg, soya and sesame are common in noodles), net quantity, dates, storage and a UK address in English. Seasoning sachets in instant noodles need their own ingredient list and allergen declaration.
Samples and shelf life
Test samples in a UK laboratory for allergens, additives and contaminants, agree shelf life and frozen or ambient logistics, and check food contact evidence for cups and trays.
