Read from the UK Trade Tariff on 25 September 2026, headphones, earphones and loudspeakers mounted in their enclosures carried 0% duty on goods from China, and none carried an anti-dumping measure. A portable speaker with more than one driver in its box is a multiple loudspeaker; one with a single driver is a single loudspeaker, and both are at 0%.
Classification can move if the product does more than play sound: a speaker with a built-in radio tuner or a clock is not the same product in the tariff. Confirm the commodity code against the finished design, not the category name.

Radio, security and waste rules
Anything with Bluetooth transmits, so it falls under the Radio Equipment Regulations 2017 and needs the conformity assessment, technical file and marking that go with radio equipment; the CE and UKCA guide sets out what to ask the factory for. Ask for the test reports by name and check that they cover the model you are buying, not a sister model.
The product security regime can apply too. Under section 5 of the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure Act 2022, a product that does not connect to the internet itself can still be a network-connectable product if it can connect to two or more products at the same time and connect directly to an internet-connectable one, such as a phone. Batteries and shipping
Almost every wireless product carries a lithium battery, and lithium batteries are dangerous goods in transport. Before booking freight, ask the factory for the battery's UN 38.3 test summary and the safety data sheet, and tell the forwarder the battery type and watt-hours; sea freight is usually simpler than air for a full production run. Battery life claims deserve the same care. Ask for the rated cell capacity and a test of playing time at a stated volume, and check it on production samples, because the number on the box is the one your customers will hold you to.
What goes wrong in production
Chipset substitution is the audio equivalent of a cheaper cartridge in a tap: the same shell with a different Bluetooth chip pairs worse, drops more and drains the battery faster. Name the chipset in the specification and check it at inspection. Listening level matters for headphones and earphones sold to consumers, so ask for sound pressure testing to EN 50332, and test pairing, charging and a full battery cycle on a sample from every batch.
