How to source casualwear from Shishi

Use Shishi's clothing markets to compare garments and its textile cluster to explore fabrics and trims. Separate available stock from commissioned production, then arrange appointments at shortlisted sites against the same garment brief. Cambridge China Bridge can coordinate this work through its own staff in China.

Use the cluster to build a shortlist

Shishi's garment-making cluster is supported by synthetic fibres, fabrics, dyeing and finishing, and garment hardware. The municipal government's reporting describes both manufacturing and specialist trading markets. This makes Shishi a place to investigate casualwear production and material options together; it does not establish any individual seller's capability.

Start with a brief covering garment type, knitted or woven construction, fabric composition and weight, fit, colour, trims, intended sales destination and packing. Ask candidates for examples of comparable work and identify whether each contact is a manufacturer, wholesaler or intermediary.

Separate wholesale stock from commissioned production

Ask whether the quoted garments already exist, will be replenished from an existing design, or will be made to your specification. A market sample does not establish available inventory or prove that its seller runs the production site. Confirm the goods' location, the invoicing party and who will handle defects.

For stock, request the available size and colour mix and ask whether repeat supply uses the same fabric and fit. For commissioned production, ask about pattern development, fabric sourcing, minimum orders by style and colour, sampling and production scheduling. Use our stock-lot guide for provenance, resale rights and reserved-stock checks.

Compare clothing, fabric and trim markets

Plan garment comparisons at Shishi Clothing City and fabric enquiries at Shishi International Textile City. Municipal reporting also identifies Yuanyangchi's fabric stock market and Lingxiu Road's trims market. Confirm the relevant traders, current addresses and opening arrangements before travelling; include a stop only when it serves your brief.

Use the same comparison sheet throughout: fabric handle and weight, garment measurements, seams, trim quality, packing, available size mix and quote basis. Record each sample's seller and product reference. Ask whether the displayed fabric is stock or made to order, and whether replenishment can match its shade and finish. Compare total preparation and shipping costs using our landed-price guide.

Book appointments at shortlisted production sites

Send the garment brief before requesting appointments. Confirm the actual production address, named contact, access to relevant work areas and attendance by someone responsible for sampling and production. Ask what comparable work will be running during the visit. Group appointments by confirmed location and allow travel time after checking the route locally.

At each site, trace fabric receipt, cutting, sewing, finishing, checking and packing. Ask which operations are performed elsewhere, including dyeing, printing and embroidery, and who controls those suppliers. Discuss capacity against your order and existing commitments. Record what you saw separately from what the supplier promised. Our factory-visit guide covers wider preparation.

Turn comparisons into an approved order

Request revised quotations against the same specification after the visits. Resolve differences in fabric, trims, size mix, sample charges, packing and delivery basis before comparing totals. For commissioned garments, approve fit across the intended size range, fabric shade and finished construction before bulk cutting. Follow our size-set approval guide.

Agree wash-performance checks, inspection criteria, treatment of substitutions and remedies for discrepancies. Identify the evidence and approvals needed before production and shipment. Cambridge China Bridge's own staff in China can coordinate market comparisons, production-site appointments and follow-up, with unresolved questions returned to the buyer for a decision.

Frequently asked questions

Is Shishi suitable for sourcing casualwear?

Shishi combines garment manufacturing with fabrics, dyeing, finishing and trims. Shortlist suppliers by your garment construction and intended order, then verify their actual production arrangements.

Are Shishi clothing-market sellers factories?

Confirm each seller's role. Ask who manufactures the garments, where production takes place and who invoices you. Arrange access to the proposed production site before treating a market contact as a manufacturing supplier.

Can I buy stock and later order my own label?

Ask for separate stock and commissioned-production quotations. Confirm whether the fabric, pattern and fit can be repeated, and approve your own labels and samples before agreeing a production order.

How do I arrange factory visits in Shishi?

Send a garment brief, shortlist relevant sites and confirm addresses, contacts, work-area access and production staff attendance. Coordinate the route locally and record outstanding questions after each appointment.
