Can I post imported stock to UK customers?

Yes, if the chosen domestic service accepts the actual contents and finished packaging. Before buying the trial batch, disclose batteries, liquids and other sensitive contents, confirm packing and handover conditions, and arrange returns for both intact and faulty goods. Ask Cambridge China Bridge to coordinate the factory information.

Confirm the domestic service before buying

Treat delivery from your UK stock as a separate booking decision from importing it. Ask the intended carrier, such as Royal Mail or your courier, to check the exact product against its current prohibited and restricted contents list. Request written acceptance for the named service, dispatch location and customer destinations. Ask separately about Northern Ireland, islands and any route involving air transport. For pet food arriving from China, see our pet food postal import guide.

Government guidance describes a postal authorisation for small quantities of certain dangerous goods. Do not assume that this makes your product acceptable to any parcel service. Ask the carrier whether the goods are prohibited, accepted with conditions or require a specialist arrangement. Our dangerous goods import guide covers the separate journey from China.

Prepare a contents file the carrier can assess

Give the carrier an accurate product description, model, photographs, contents per parcel, packed weight and dimensions. Include accessories and bundled consumables. For batteries, disclose chemistry, ratings, condition and whether they are loose, packed alongside equipment or installed. For liquids, aerosols and chemicals, provide composition and hazard information, with an SDS where available. Avoid descriptions such as accessories that conceal what is inside.

Ask the carrier which information belongs in the booking, which documents accompany the parcel and which markings appear outside. Confirm any quantity limits, sender details, special labels and permitted handover point. Keep its reply with the product file. Ask for a fresh assessment if the factory changes a battery, formulation, accessory or packing arrangement.

Approve the parcel pack and handover method

Dangerous goods must be packaged and labelled appropriately. Have a transport specialist resolve the relevant requirements before asking the factory to print labels or buy packaging. Obtain the chosen carrier’s packing instructions for the actual contents, including any specified inner protection, closures, outer packaging and documents. Record who will pack and check parcels at your UK dispatch site.

Approve a finished sample showing cushioning, restraint, closure and label placement. Check leak protection for liquids and protection against accidental activation for powered goods. Confirm whether collection, a counter or another handover route is accepted. Send an accepted sample through the intended service and inspect its arrival. Our factory parcel-packaging brief covers how to turn the agreed pack into factory instructions.

Make customer returns workable

Arrange a UK receiving address, named returns contact and a process for linking each return to its order and batch. Confirm the provider accepts customer-posted parcels and offers a suitable collection route where needed. Give customers clear packing instructions and explain how to report leaks, battery damage or missing packaging before sending anything. Test the return booking and receiving process using an intact sample.

Online consumers can have cancellation rights even when goods are not faulty. Check applicable exceptions and distinguish cancellation from fault complaints in your shop returns policy. Work out who pays and who arranges transport for each route. Assess damaged goods separately from intact returns; do not issue an ordinary label for a damaged lithium battery. Use our damaged-battery claims guide for that case.

Set a purchase gate for the trial batch

Before paying, keep the contents file, domestic carrier response, approved packing photographs, dispatch instructions and return arrangements together. Calculate the expected handling cost using actual quotes for outward delivery, return transport, replacement packing, receiving and inspection. Hold the order if dispatch or returns depend on an unanswered acceptance question.

Ask Cambridge China Bridge’s own staff in China to collect the factory specifications and check the finished packing against your approved instructions. Keep domestic carrier acceptance with the carrier and specialist transport questions with the specialist. After the trial, record refusals, transit damage and return-packing problems, then revise the specification before buying more stock.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use ordinary post once my stock is in the UK?

Check the actual contents and finished pack with the chosen domestic service. Import delivery arrangements do not establish acceptance for customer parcels. Obtain a written response before buying stock.

What contents information does a parcel carrier need?

Provide the product model, all contents and accessories, photographs, packed weight and dimensions. Disclose batteries, liquids, aerosols and chemicals, then ask which booking details, documents and markings it requires.

Can customers use the same service to return faulty goods?

Ask for separate acceptance based on the fault and condition. Arrange a receiving address and collection option before launch. Do not give an ordinary return label for a damaged lithium battery.

What should I check before ordering a trial batch?

Resolve carrier acceptance, contents information, finished packing, handover and intact or damaged return routes. Test an accepted sample through dispatch and return, and use actual handling quotes in your purchase decision.
