Kitchenware order switched to air: what to recheck
Recheck the new first point of introduction, notify its competent authority against the revised arrival time, and match the declaration, laboratory report and shipping paperwork to the actual air consignment. Ask how to amend or replace the original notice before dispatch. Coordinate the factory document changes with Cambridge China Bridge.

Make the route change a document checkpoint
This guide concerns controlled polyamide and melamine kitchenware originating in or consigned from China or Hong Kong for Great Britain. For the underlying product evidence, use our food-contact materials guide. Here, the task is to reconcile prepared documents with a changed journey.
Before confirming the flight, ask the forwarder for the complete revised itinerary, physical arrival date and time, entry airport, air waybill details and whether the whole order or only part will fly. Record what changed from the sea booking. Use our sea versus air guide for the commercial decision.
Confirm the new first point of introduction
The guidance identifies designated Border Control Posts for these consignments. Check that the proposed entry airport is suitable for the controlled kitchenware and identify the competent authority at the new first point of introduction. Ask the forwarder to confirm the actual entry route rather than relying on the final delivery address.
Contact that authority before dispatch. Give it the revised itinerary and ask how it wants the existing notification handled. Tell the authority originally notified that the sea arrival has changed, and ask how to close or amend that record. Do not assume the original port has transferred the paperwork.
Recalculate pre-notification against the flight
You must pre-notify the competent authority at the first point of introduction at least two working days before the estimated date and time of physical arrival. Recheck that interval against the air itinerary, rather than the cancelled sea arrival or the warehouse delivery date.
Send the revised arrival details through the route the receiving authority specifies. Keep its acknowledgement and the current notification reference with the shipment file. If the flight leaves insufficient notice, ask the authority how to proceed before dispatch and revise the booking as necessary. An urgent sales deadline is no basis for assuming the notice interval can be shortened.
Match the evidence to the air consignment
The declaration and laboratory report are required for each consignment. Compare their product descriptions and identifiers with the actual goods, then check the invoice, packing list, air waybill and revised notification together. Use our customs document guide for the underlying document checklist.
Check importer and consignee details, product variants, batch references, quantities, carton marks, weights and transport references wherever they appear. If only part of the order flies, show exactly which goods belong to that air consignment and reconcile the remaining sea shipment separately. Do not alter a laboratory report to make it fit; ask the issuer or receiving authority about any unresolved evidence mismatch.

Approve a reconciled file before dispatch
Create a current document bundle and mark superseded sea versions clearly. Ask the importer, forwarder and factory to confirm that they are working from the same itinerary and consignment details. Resolve conflicting references before handing over the goods, and keep a record of who submitted the revised notice.
Cambridge China Bridge’s staff in China can coordinate factory-side document corrections and check the packed goods against the revised shipment list. Ask the receiving authority what remains outstanding before arranging collection, and avoid promising customer delivery solely from the flight arrival time.
Frequently asked questions
Can I keep the sea shipment notification?
Ask the receiving authority whether to amend or replace it. Recheck the first point of introduction and physical arrival time, and tell the original authority about the changed sea booking.
How much notice does air-freighted kitchenware need?
At least two working days before the estimated date and time of physical arrival, to the competent authority at the first point of introduction.
Does switching to air mean I need a new lab test?
Check whether the report still covers the actual goods being flown. Ask the issuer or receiving authority about gaps; do not commission another test solely because the transport mode changed.
What if only part of my kitchenware order flies?
Identify the products, quantities and cartons in the air consignment, match its documents and notification, and reconcile the goods remaining on the sea booking separately.
