Intertextile Home Textiles: which edition?

Start with Spring for a bedding-led brief. Compare Autumn exhibitors first for curtains and upholstery, but confirm the actual supplier shortlist before booking: both editions publish these product groups. Cambridge China Bridge can help turn that shortlist into factory checks and sample briefs.

Choose by the brief, then by the exhibitors

The organiser describes bedding as Spring's largest category. That makes Spring a sensible starting point for bed linen, filled bedding and related materials. For a curtain or upholstery brief, start by comparing Autumn's exhibitor offering. This is a planning recommendation, not a claim that those products are exclusive to Autumn.

Both editions publish bedding, curtain and upholstery groups. For a mixed collection, choose the edition whose confirmed exhibitors match your priority products and production needs. The existing guide on whether you need a sourcing agent covers the wider decision about buying support; this guide focuses on edition choice and exhibition preparation.

Match the published scope to what you buy

The published categories overlap substantially. Use them to identify possible suppliers, then check whether each exhibitor supplies finished goods, fabric rolls, fillings or accessories. A bedding display does not establish that the exhibitor can make your complete private-label range.

Build an edition-specific exhibitor shortlist

Use the organiser's separate Exhibitors & Products pages and available catalogues or previews. Check the edition and year shown on each resource: a future event banner can sit above a previous edition's preview. Treat previous participation as a lead, then ask the exhibitor to confirm attendance and stand details for your intended visit.

Send the same brief to each candidate before arranging meetings. Request the production location, processes performed in-house, subcontracted work, sample availability, minimum order by construction and colour, and repeat-order arrangements. Record what remains unanswered. Follow the factory versus trading company guide when checking who will actually make the goods.

Prepare different questions for each product

For bedding, specify finished dimensions, fibre composition, weave, filling, seams, closures and packing. Ask to compare samples after the intended washing and drying routine. Use the textile wash-performance guide to plan approval rather than judging only the unwashed showroom sample.

For curtains, state usable width, pattern repeat, lining, heading construction and the intended light-blocking result. For upholstery, state backing, handle, stretch, abrasion, pilling, colour transfer and intended cleaning. Ask which reports cover the offered construction and finish. For a factory visit beyond the exhibition, the Xucun curtain and upholstery guide provides a separate sourcing route.

Turn meetings into comparable sample decisions

Label each swatch with the exhibitor, fabric reference, composition, construction, finish and quoted supply form. Photograph the label with the sample and record agreed changes. Ask whether the display sample represents the proposed production material, and obtain a matching sample for assessment before approving an order.

Compare candidates against the same brief, including unresolved specifications, sample results and production evidence. Keep exhibition attendance separate from supplier approval. Cambridge China Bridge's own staff in China can follow up production details, coordinate samples and check factories after the exhibition.

Frequently asked questions

Is Spring or Autumn better for bedding?

Start with Spring: the organiser describes bedding as its largest category. Autumn also lists bedding, so compare confirmed exhibitors if your brief includes curtains or upholstery.

Can I source curtain fabrics at Spring?

Yes. Spring's published scope includes ready-made curtains, blackout fabrics, jacquards and sheers. Confirm which exhibitors offer your construction and supply form before booking.

Which edition should I choose for upholstery?

Compare Autumn exhibitors first, then check Spring if a suitable supplier is exhibiting there. Both publish upholstery categories; choose through supplier fit rather than the season alone.

Does an exhibitor listing prove it is a factory?

No. Ask where production happens, which processes are performed in-house and who makes the offered sample. Verify those answers before supplier approval.
