GB cosmetic nanomaterial paperwork before launch
Get ingredient-level evidence from the factory and raw-material supplier, then have your Responsible Person confirm the notification route. Complete separate nanomaterial notification where required, plan the waiting period and check '(nano)' ingredient labelling before launch. Supplier evidence can be coordinated by Cambridge China Bridge.

Start with the ingredient, not the supplier's assurance
Ask the factory to identify every ingredient supplied in nano form, its purpose in the formula and the raw-material manufacturer. Request the material's chemical identity, grade, particle specification and supporting reports. A statement that the finished cosmetic is 'compliant' leaves these questions unanswered.
Send the evidence to your Responsible Person and safety assessor before approving production. Ask them to resolve uncertain classifications rather than relying on a marketing claim such as 'nano-free'. Our beauty and personal care sourcing guide covers the general safety assessment and product information file.
Confirm which notification route applies
OPSS distinguishes nanomaterials listed in the colourant, preservative and UV-filter annexes and used within their restrictions from unlisted nanomaterials used for another purpose. The former need additional information in the cosmetic product notification; the latter need separate nanomaterial notification through the cosmetic notification service.
Purpose matters as well as listing. OPSS statutory guidance says listed nanomaterials used for purposes other than colouring, preservation or UV filtering also require separate notification. An unlisted nanomaterial cannot be used as a preservative, UV-filter or colourant. Ask your Responsible Person to record the applicable entry, permitted use and route.
Build a supplier evidence pack and launch gate
Request particle size and distribution, physical and chemical properties, toxicological information, safety data relevant to the product category and expected exposure. For a spray, ask for droplet information too. Agree who will obtain missing raw-material data and who can disclose it directly to the assessor under confidentiality. Use our test report verification guide to check report authenticity and scope.
Where separate notification applies, OPSS specifies notification at least 6 months before market placement. Have the Responsible Person confirm the applicable timing and retain the submission record before setting a launch date. As a practical release gate, keep unresolved supplier evidence, assessment questions and notification timing visible in the order tracker.
Check the ingredient list before printing
Nanomaterial ingredients must be followed by '(nano)' in the ingredient list. Check this independently of whether separate notification is required. Compare the final formula, material specifications and artwork line by line, rather than accepting a label copied from another market.
Ask the Responsible Person to sign off the artwork, then compare a packed production unit with the approved version. Keep the approval alongside the supplier evidence. Photograph the ingredient panel clearly so the factory and buyer are checking the same text.

Keep the approved material tied to production
Record the approved raw-material manufacturer, grade and formulation revision in your purchasing specification. Ask the factory to flag changes to particle properties, coatings, ingredient source or intended use before substitution. Refer proposed changes back to the Responsible Person and assessor before accepting them.
Before paying the balance, match the production records and packaging to the approved file. Our pre-balance payment checks cover the wider shipment checkpoint. Cambridge China Bridge's staff in China can follow up supplier documents and check production against the agreed specification.
Frequently asked questions
Does every nano cosmetic need separate notification?
The route depends on the material's listing and purpose. Listed colourants, preservatives and UV-filters used within their restrictions follow the product notification route; other uses can require separate notification.
Can I launch as soon as I submit the nano notification?
Where separate notification applies, OPSS specifies at least 6 months before market placement. Have the Responsible Person confirm the applicable timing before committing to launch.
What should I ask my Chinese cosmetic factory for?
Ask for ingredient-level nano identification, the raw-material manufacturer and grade, particle specifications and relevant safety reports. Arrange confidential disclosure to the assessor if needed.
Do listed nano ingredients still need nano labelling?
Yes. Nanomaterial ingredients must be followed by '(nano)' in the ingredient list. Check the label separately from the notification route.
