Will Chinese radiators work with UK heating?
Yes, water-filled radiators from China can work with UK heating when your installer approves their output at your planned temperatures, pressure limits, connections and material compatibility. Agree a room-by-room schedule before ordering. Send the approved requirements to Cambridge China Bridge.

Start with installer-approved room heat requirements
This guide covers water-filled radiators connected to a heating circuit. Ask your installer or heating designer to calculate each room's heat loss, considering the building fabric, ventilation and intended room temperature. Record the required heat output for each room alongside the planned heating-water flow and return temperatures. Do not approve a radiator from its dimensions or a supplier's room-size recommendation alone.
Have the installer approve a room-by-room radiator schedule showing the exact model, size, position and required output. Include any planned change from a boiler to a heat pump, and ask them to check whether the pipework, pump and controls suit the proposed radiators. Put that approved schedule into your order using our product specification guide.
Compare outputs at the same temperature conditions
Ask the factory for the output report for the exact model and size, identifying the test method, output units, flow temperature, return temperature and room temperature. A catalogue output without its rating conditions is insufficient for selection. Ask what any stated temperature difference represents; it should not be confused with the temperature drop between the inlet and outlet.
Government research describes replacing emitters with larger ones when moving to lower flow temperatures. Ask your installer to check output at your proposed operating conditions using the manufacturer's supported correction data. Do not assume the catalogue output applies unchanged to a heat pump. Our test-report verification guide explains how to check that the supporting report actually covers the supplied product.
Separate working pressure from test pressure
Ask the factory to state maximum working pressure and temperature separately from pressure-test conditions. Have the installer compare those limits with the heating circuit's expected cold and hot pressures, static head and safety arrangements. Identify whether the installation is sealed or open vented. A factory pressure-test result alone does not establish suitability for continuous operation.
Request traceable pressure and leak-test records for the supplied models, including sectional joints where applicable. Agree what testing will be done on production units and what evidence you will receive before dispatch. Ask the installer to approve the complete assembly, including valves, plugs, seals and adaptors, and to specify any checks needed before commissioning.
Approve connections and mounting from drawings
Request dimensioned drawings showing connection positions, thread designation, thread form, sealing method, valve centres, wall projection and bleed and drain points. Ask the installer to confirm the intended flow direction and any internal baffle arrangement. A description such as 'UK connection' is too vague to approve.
Have the installer check a sample with the intended valves and pipe connections before committing to the batch. Confirm bracket positions, supplied fixings, filled weight and suitability for the actual wall construction. Record approved adaptors and replacement valve and seal references. Use our spare-parts planning guide for the wider support arrangement.

Agree corrosion compatibility before releasing the order
Ask for the radiator's wetted materials, including internal coatings, joints and seals. Give that information to the installer alongside the materials already present in the heating circuit. Ask the radiator and heat-source manufacturers to confirm acceptable water chemistry, cleaner, inhibitor and any antifreeze. Require written compatibility confirmation rather than accepting 'corrosion resistant' as an answer.
Have the installer agree cleaning, flushing, filling, water treatment and subsequent checks, taking account of existing sludge and possible oxygen entry. Record any warranty conditions linked to water quality or treatment. Release the order only when the installer has approved the schedule and resolved technical exceptions. Cambridge China Bridge can use its staff in China to obtain factory drawings, samples and matching records for that review.
Frequently asked questions
Will radiators from China work with a UK heat pump?
They can, if your installer confirms adequate room output at the heat pump's planned flow and return temperatures, together with pressure, hydraulic and material compatibility.
Can I choose a radiator from its advertised heat output?
Ask for the rating temperatures, output units and report for the exact model and size. Have your installer check the output at your intended operating conditions against the room's calculated heat loss.
Does a pressure-test certificate prove a radiator will fit my system?
It supports the test result, but you still need declared working limits. Ask your installer to check operating pressure and temperature, connections, valves and seals against the intended circuit.
Can I mix aluminium radiators with existing heating pipework?
Give the installer the complete wetted-material list. Obtain written confirmation of compatible water chemistry and treatment from the radiator and heat-source manufacturers before ordering.
