Can China electric underfloor heating suit my floor?
Yes, if your flooring manufacturer accepts the exact electric heating system and floor build-up, and your electrician accepts the equipment and installation design. Agree controls, protection and recorded tests before covering anything. Factory documents can be gathered by Cambridge China Bridge.

Get acceptance before ordering
Send your electrician the exact heater model, installation instructions, wiring diagram, rated supply, output, thermostat details and supporting reports. Ask for written acceptance of the proposed equipment and design before placing the order. Our electrical imports guide covers the separate product compliance checks.
HSE says people working on electrical installations must be competent. Choose an electrician experienced with electric floor heating who will take responsibility for connection, inspection and testing. For homes in England, Approved Document P covers electrical safety in dwellings. Ask the electrician to confirm the applicable building-control route for the project's location and scope.
Approve the complete floor build-up
Ask the flooring manufacturer to confirm suitability in writing for the exact electric system, rather than accepting a general 'underfloor heating compatible' label. Submit the proposed substrate, insulation, heater, levelling layer, adhesive, underlay and finish. Request its temperature limit, thermal resistance limits, moisture conditions and warranty conditions.
Check whether the proposed cable, mat or foil needs an embedding layer or protective overlay beneath your finish. Do not assume a system intended for tiles can sit directly beneath vinyl or timber. Our vinyl flooring guide and wood flooring guide cover purchasing checks beyond heating compatibility.
Agree controls and electrical protection
Ask the electrician to specify circuit capacity, overcurrent protection, residual current protection, isolation and earthing arrangements for the exact system and room. Request confirmation that the thermostat can switch the proposed load, or specify suitable switching equipment. Include wet-room suitability where relevant.
Specify a compatible floor sensor and a thermostat arrangement that can enforce the flooring manufacturer's temperature limit. Agree sensor placement and replacement access before laying begins. Ask the installer to demonstrate the limit setting and explain sensor-failure behaviour. HSE advises regular testing of residual current devices using their test button; ask for the handover instructions.
Make covering a written release point
Agree that nobody covers the heating until the electrician has reviewed and accepted the recorded checks. Request heater resistance, insulation resistance, protective conductor continuity where applicable, and floor-sensor readings using the manufacturer's methods and acceptance criteria. Arrange checks on receipt, after laying and immediately before covering, with further checks after covering.
Record actual readings against each heater identifier, the expected values, test stage, date, instrument and tester. Photograph cable routes, joints and sensor positions against a room plan. If readings fail or change unexpectedly, stop covering and investigate. A factory pass does not show whether installation has damaged the heater.

Keep a usable handover file
Keep the flooring acceptance, approved layout, exact instructions, test records, photographs, control settings and electrical certificate appropriate to the work together. Agree adhesive and levelling-compound curing conditions and the start-up procedure before commissioning. Record restrictions on rugs, furniture and fixings from the relevant manufacturers.
Ask Cambridge China Bridge's staff in China to obtain model-specific documents and check that supplied heaters, sensors and controls match the agreed order. Use our test report verification guide to check report identity. Keep factory evidence and site acceptance as separate records, and resolve missing instructions before installation.
Frequently asked questions
Can electric underfloor heating go under vinyl?
Ask the vinyl manufacturer to accept the exact electric system and complete floor build-up in writing, including any overlay or embedding layer and temperature limit.
Will my electrician install heating bought from China?
Send the exact model documents before ordering. Ask whether they accept the equipment and design and will connect, inspect, test and provide the appropriate certificate.
Is an air thermostat enough for electric floor heating?
Ask for controls that enforce the flooring manufacturer's temperature limit. Specify a compatible floor sensor where needed and confirm sensor-failure behaviour.
What tests should I keep before covering the heating?
Agree model-specific resistance, insulation and sensor checks, plus protective conductor checks where applicable. Keep actual readings, heater identifiers, photographs and written release to cover.
