Buying a home pressure washer from China: checks
Before ordering, check the exact model's electrical protection, rated hose assemblies, mains-water backflow arrangement, English operating instructions and obtainable UK spares. Have an electrician and plumber review unresolved installation questions. Cambridge China Bridge can gather factory documents and samples for those checks.

Define the home-use package
Specify the surfaces to clean, available water supply, detergent use, storage conditions and intended accessories. Request the exact model's manual, rating plate, assembly drawings and supplied-component list before paying a deposit. Our pressure washer sourcing guide covers pressure claims, import compliance and factory testing; this checklist adds checks for the intended home setup.
Match the evidence to the motor, pump, cable, plug, hose, trigger gun and lance actually supplied. Ask the factory to identify differences between the tested model and your order, and prohibit substitutions without review. Use how to verify a product test report to check document scope.
Review electrical protection around water
HSE guidance recommends residual current device protection for movable pressure cleaners, preferably within the fixed wiring. Ask an electrician to confirm protection for the intended socket and supply cable. Discuss any proposed extension lead, its load rating and outdoor suitability. Keep connections away from spray and standing water, and follow the lead manufacturer's instructions on cable reels.
Ask for evidence covering water ingress protection on the complete machine, including cable entries and switches. Confirm whether its electrical design uses protective earthing or double insulation, and request the corresponding test evidence. A water-resistant housing does not make the plug connection suitable for spraying. Our electrical goods import guide covers UK plugs and the wider product documentation.
Check hoses, fittings and mains-water backflow
Distinguish the inlet garden hose from the high-pressure outlet assembly. Obtain working-pressure and temperature ratings for the hose, couplings, gun, lance and adapters, matched to the machine's permitted output and liquid. A burst-test result alone does not establish a working rating. Compare thread form, sealing faces and locking mechanisms, then trial the intended assembly under a controlled test arranged by a competent person.
Before connecting to a mains tap, show a plumber and the water supplier the inlet arrangement, detergent system and intended cleaning uses. Ask them to specify suitable backflow protection, including whether a break tank with an air gap is needed. Do not assume an ordinary hose connector or a factory-supplied check valve settles the question. Our plumber checks guide explains assessing the installed arrangement; ask the local supplier about requirements where the home is located.
Read the operating instructions before buying
Request English instructions for assembly, water connection, priming, starting, trigger control, stopping, isolation and releasing trapped pressure before disconnecting fittings. Check that they explain permitted detergents, inlet-water limits, dry-running prevention, blockage handling and frost storage. Ask the factory to demonstrate these procedures on the supplied configuration and resolve gaps before approving the sample.
The instructions should explain keeping the jet away from people, animals and electrical equipment, suitable eye protection and secure footing. Check how to inspect damaged hoses, loose couplings, leaks and cable damage before use, and when to stop using the machine. Do not test a suspected pressure leak with your hand; seek urgent medical attention for a suspected injection injury, even if the wound looks small.

Prove UK replacement-part availability
Request an illustrated parts list with orderable references for hoses, guns, lances, nozzles, seals, inlet filters and pump service parts. Ask a named UK stockist or repairer to confirm which exact parts it can supply and whether it services this model. Check a replacement hose and gun against the sample; a claim of universal compatibility is insufficient.
Agree who handles faults, who supplies parts, what the owner can safely replace and which repairs need a competent technician. Record warranty exclusions, parts substitutions and the route for obtaining discontinued components. Our machinery after-sales agreement guide helps document responsibilities. Keep the approved configuration, manual and parts list with the order so later replacements can be checked.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need electrical protection for a pressure washer?
Ask an electrician to confirm residual current device protection for the intended socket and cable, and review any extension lead. Keep connections away from spray and standing water.
Can I connect a Chinese pressure washer to my garden tap?
Have a plumber and your water supplier review the inlet, detergent system and intended use. Settle the backflow arrangement before connecting; a hose fitting alone does not establish suitability.
Will UK pressure washer hoses fit a Chinese machine?
Compare pressure and temperature ratings, thread form, seals and locking mechanisms. Trial the exact replacement assembly; matching appearance or a universal label is insufficient.
How do I check that spare parts are available in the UK?
Get an illustrated parts list, then ask a named UK stockist or repairer to confirm exact part references and model support. Check replacement hoses and guns against the sample before ordering.
