Buying from China for a business? How our UK China sourcing agent service works · China sourcing agent for businesses outside the UK

Start with your Tongan business licence
For commercial buying, start by checking your business licence. Tonga's Business Licences Act requires every business person carrying on a business activity in the Kingdom to hold a valid business licence, subject to the Act. Ask your own customs broker to review the proposed importer's details before you commit to a factory order.
The current Business Licences Regulations require an application to list the specific business activities in the manner provided on the online register. Ask your broker to check that your recorded activities cover the proposed importing business. The overseas buying guide explains the wider sourcing arrangement.
Agree a quote to your own Tongan port
Cambridge China Bridge is a UK-based sourcing company with its own staff in China. We can quote for buying from Chinese factories and shipping to your named Tongan port. State the receiving port in your enquiry and ask for the delivery term, freight, insurance arrangements and included destination charges to be written into the quote.
Keep a separate arrival budget for brokerage, applicable duties and taxes, port handling, possible examinations, storage and onward delivery. Ask your broker to confirm the final entry and amounts. Our buy-through-UK-company service explains the purchasing route; agree the invoicing seller and consignee before documents are prepared.
Give your own broker an arrival brief
Appoint your own customs broker in Tonga and agree their scope: reviewing classification and valuation, preparing the arrival declaration, coordinating any authority enquiries or examinations, arranging applicable payments and obtaining release. Send the product specification, materials, intended use, proposed seller and packing details before production.
Ask the broker to identify any product-specific permits, registration, certification, labelling or packaging instructions and send us their written requirements. If you also import into neighbouring markets, consult the New Zealand guide and Australia guide for those destinations; have your Tonga broker confirm the instructions for this shipment.
Build the document pack before dispatch
The factory supplies the product and packing information and available test reports. We use the agreed selling arrangement to prepare the commercial invoice and compile the packing list. Check the seller, buyer, consignee, descriptions, quantities, carton references and weights together, then send drafts to your broker before shipment.
Ask your broker whether a certificate of origin is needed; we coordinate it with the Chinese exporter where requested. Match test reports to the actual model, materials and configuration, and flag missing evidence before production approval. Agree who obtains any additional documents and coordinate the transport document with the forwarder.

Check the supplier and inspect before shipment
Our own staff in China check the supplier's identity, actual production site and ability to make your specification. Agree the sample, materials, functional checks and acceptance criteria before production. Put the broker's written packaging and marking instructions into the factory brief so they can be checked against the finished goods.
Before shipment, inspect the batch against the approved sample and specification, record defects and photographs, and reconcile carton markings and package counts with the packing list. Resolve outstanding issues before authorising dispatch. The quality inspection guide explains the method. Factory audits and inspections are usually included in the quote; complex checks that need a third party are charged separately and agreed in advance.
