Importing from China to Togo: Importer card
Start with Togo’s importer/exporter card, described as essential by its public-service portal. Have your own broker confirm the product’s entry requirements before ordering, then agree the documents and a quote to your port. Start with the importer/exporter card
Togo’s public-service portal describes the importer/exporter card as an essential document enabling international traders to import and export in accordance with customs and commercial regulations. Start by checking the card for the business that will import your goods.
Before paying a factory deposit, send your Togolese customs broker the product description, intended use, materials and proposed importer details. Ask them to confirm the card application documents and any product-specific permissions, testing or labelling needed before production. Use their written checklist to brief us.
Give your own broker the arrival work
Agree a scope with your own Togolese customs broker covering classification, customs value, the import declaration, duties and taxes, responses to inspection requests and arrangements for release. Your broker confirms the final entry. Ask for their clearance estimate before accepting the purchase quote.
Use the Ghana guide and Nigeria guide when comparing destination procedures. Give your broker a Togo-specific checklist to approve rather than reusing documents prepared for a neighbouring market.
Agree the document pack before production
We coordinate the commercial invoice and packing list with the factory and the agreed seller. Check the buyer and seller names, product descriptions, quantities, values, carton details and weights against the order. Have your broker review draft documents before shipment, especially where the UK seller and Chinese manufacturer are different businesses.
Ask your broker whether a certificate of origin is needed and which issuing body and format they will accept; we arrange it through the Chinese exporter where agreed. The factory supplies existing test reports, and we arrange additional testing where agreed. Match reports to the actual model and construction being supplied, and agree who provides the transport document.
Check the supplier and the goods in China
Our staff in China check the supplier’s business identity, production address and whether it manufactures the quoted goods or buys them elsewhere. We review production capability and samples against your specification, then record the approved materials, dimensions, functions, packaging and artwork.
Before shipment, inspect production against the approved sample and agreed acceptance criteria. Check workmanship, operation, quantity, labels and packing, and record defects with photographs. Agree corrective work and any reinspection before authorising dispatch. Keep inspection findings and laboratory reports together so your broker can review the same product evidence.

Request a quote to your own port
Tell us your destination port, product specification, quantity and broker’s document checklist. Ask the quote to identify the delivery term, freight, insurance arrangements, destination handling and where responsibility passes. Have your broker price clearance and onward transport separately. The overseas buying guide explains the wider service.
Use our buy-through-UK-company service to agree the seller, payment arrangements and China-side work. Factory audits and inspections are usually included in the quote; complex checks that need a third party are charged separately and agreed in advance.
