Importing from China to the Solomon Islands
For business purchases, start with Inland Revenue registration and your tax identification number, then check product-specific import permissions before ordering. Your own customs broker confirms the final entry and arrival costs. China-side sourcing and quotes to your agreed port are handled by Cambridge China Bridge.
Buying from China for a business? How our UK China sourcing agent service works · China sourcing agent for businesses outside the UK

Start with the importing business's registration
Solomon Islands Inland Revenue states that all businesses and employers need to register with it and that it issues a Tax Identification Number. Before committing to a Chinese factory, ask your own customs broker to check the importing business's registered details and the identification information needed for your shipment.
Send the broker your product description, materials, intended use and proposed seller. Ask them to identify any product-specific permission before you approve production. Our overseas buying guide explains the wider sourcing arrangement; this guide adds the Solomon Islands checks.
Check biosecurity against the goods' actual origin
Biosecurity Solomon Islands states that animals and animal products from countries outside its stated Australian and New Zealand exception require an import permit. This includes China. If your proposed goods contain animal materials, have the authority confirm their treatment before placing the order.
Give your broker the complete composition and packaging details rather than a catalogue name alone. Keep manufacturing origin separate from the UK seller's address. For separate purchases destined for those markets, use our Australia guide or New Zealand guide.
Agree a quote to your own port
We can source through our UK company, with our own staff in China, and quote to your agreed Solomon Islands port. Name the receiving port and agree the delivery term, freight scope and insurance arrangements in writing. The buy-through-UK-company service explains the purchasing relationship.
Ask for goods, China collection, export handling and freight to be separated from destination charges. Identify whether unloading, destination handling, brokerage, duties, taxes, examinations, storage and onward delivery are included or excluded. Have your own broker estimate the arrival budget before accepting the quote.
Prepare the documents with the factory
Agree the document pack before shipment. The Chinese factory supplies product descriptions, packing details and available test reports; we coordinate the commercial invoice and packing list with the actual sale and shipment. Where your broker requests a certificate of origin, we arrange it with the supplier and check the proposed issuer and format with the broker.
Match the buyer, seller, goods, quantities, weights and package details across the paperwork. Check that test reports identify the product and model being supplied. Send drafts to your broker for review, including any permit or supporting certificate they have identified, before the goods leave China.

Inspect in China and prepare for arrival
Our China staff check the supplier's identity, production address, equipment and ability to make your specification. Agree an approved sample and written acceptance criteria. Before shipment, inspect the finished goods against those criteria, including workmanship, dimensions, function, agreed labels and packing, then record defects and any corrective work.
Appoint your own Solomon Islands customs broker to handle the arrival declaration, classification and valuation checks, applicable payments, clearance enquiries and release coordination. The buyer's own customs broker confirms the final entry. Give them the shipping documents early and agree who arranges collection and onward delivery after release.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to register before importing for my business?
Inland Revenue requires business registration. Ask your broker to check your importing entity's details and tax identification information before you order.
Can Cambridge China Bridge quote to my Solomon Islands port?
Yes. Give us the product specification and receiving port so we can agree the freight scope. Ask your broker to budget separately for destination costs excluded from the quote.
Does buying through a UK company change the goods' origin?
Keep the seller's location and manufacturing origin separate in your instructions. Tell your broker that the goods are made in China and identify the UK contracting seller.
Who checks quality before the shipment leaves China?
Our China staff carry out the agreed supplier and pre-shipment checks. Approve the sample, inspection scope and defect criteria beforehand, and agree how failed checks will be resolved.
