Start with taxpayer registration

Nicaragua's Ministry of Trade states that importers must be registered in the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit's national taxpayer register, known as RUC. Before paying a Chinese factory, ask your Nicaraguan customs broker to check your registration and confirm the importer details to use on the shipment documents.

Send the broker the specification, intended use, materials and model details. Request a written checklist identifying any applicable product registration, permits, certification or labelling, including anything to complete before shipment. Use the separate Mexico and Colombia guides if you also supply those markets.

Define the price to your own port

Give us your Nicaraguan destination port, product brief, quantity and packing requirements. We can quote to your own port. Ask the quotation to identify the delivery term, freight, insurance arrangements and destination charges payable separately. Have your broker estimate clearance, local taxes, port handling and onward delivery for your budget.

The overseas buying guide explains our wider service. Use buying through a UK company to frame who sells to you, who receives payment and which documents each party supplies.

Agree the factory and seller documents

We coordinate the commercial invoice and packing list with the Chinese factory under the agreed selling arrangement. If we are your seller, agree our invoice details and the factory's supporting paperwork before payment. Send drafts to your broker so the seller, importer, goods descriptions, quantities, values and delivery term can be checked together.

Where your broker requests a certificate of origin, we arrange it with the exporter and confirm the requested issuer and format. We obtain existing factory test reports or coordinate agreed testing. Match each report to the ordered model, materials and configuration. Agree label artwork before printing, then reconcile packing details with the finished shipment.

Check the supplier and inspect the order

Our own staff in China check the supplier's identity, actual production site and capability against your specification. We ask which operations are subcontracted and compare the sample with the proposed production materials. Agree the evidence you want from the visit, including photographs and findings that affect your buying decision.

Before shipment, we inspect the finished goods against the approved sample and written specification. Agree checks for function, finish, quantities, labels and packaging. Record defects and corrections, then obtain your shipment release decision. Ask separately for any laboratory testing identified in the broker's checklist.

Arrange arrival clearance with your broker

Agree with your own Nicaraguan customs broker that they will confirm the final entry, classification and valuation, prepare the declaration, calculate duties and taxes, and coordinate clearance and release. Supply the invoice, packing list, carrier's transport document and any origin or product evidence they requested.

Before shipment booking, ask the broker to review the completed document pack and flag outstanding approvals or filings. Assign responsibility for port collection and delivery to your premises. Send Cambridge China Bridge your product brief, destination port and broker's checklist so our China work follows your import plan.
