Importing from China to Mongolia: conformity

For products on Mongolia's mandatory list, conformity must be established before border entry. Ask your broker to check the product before ordering. We quote to your named seaport or border point, with onward transport agreed separately. Your broker confirms the final entry. Cambridge China Bridge arranges sourcing and checks in China.

Check listed-product conformity before ordering

The procedure published by Mongolia's Agency for Standardization and Metrology says businesses, organisations and individuals may supply listed products to the market or move them across the border after conformity has been established. Start by asking your Mongolian broker to check whether your exact product is on the mandatory list.

Send the broker the model, materials, intended use and available reports. Ask them to identify the accepted conformity evidence and arrange confirmation with the relevant certification body before you commit to production. Give us that document brief so we can check what the Chinese factory can supply.

Give your Mongolian broker the arrival work

Appoint your own customs broker to confirm classification, customs value, applicable duties and taxes, and any product-specific permits or labelling requirements. Ask them to review draft documents before dispatch and handle the declaration, customs queries and release arrangements on arrival. Your broker confirms the final entry.

For the wider division of responsibilities, read buying from China outside the UK. If you are comparing regional destinations, use the Kazakhstan guide for that market's separate checks; ask your broker to assess Mongolia independently.

Agree the factory and seller document pack

We provide the commercial invoice for our sale and coordinate the factory's packing list against the goods being shipped. Agree the buyer, seller, consignee, product descriptions, quantities, carton details, weights and delivery point before the documents are finalised. Send the draft pack to your broker for review.

Where your broker requests a certificate of origin, we coordinate obtaining it through the appropriate issuer. The factory supplies available test reports; we check that the named manufacturer, model and specification match the order and flag missing evidence. Ask the broker or certification body to confirm which reports and conformity documents they will accept.

Check the supplier and inspect before shipment

Our own staff in China check the supplier's business identity, actual production site and ability to make the agreed product. We compare samples and available reports with your specification, clarify subcontracted work and record approved materials, packaging and artwork before production.

Before shipment, we inspect against the approved sample and written acceptance criteria, checking workmanship, function, quantities, packing and agreed markings. We report discrepancies for an agreed correction and recheck. Define the scope using quality inspection explained, and arrange any specialist laboratory work separately.

Name the seaport or border point in your quote

Mongolia is landlocked. Tell us the seaport or border point you want priced, its exact name and the intended final destination. We quote to that named point, with the onward leg agreed separately. Ask the quotation to identify unloading, transfers, storage, insurance and the handover of responsibility so you can compare the complete route.

For buying through a UK company, send your product brief, quantity, available sample or drawings, broker's document checklist and chosen delivery point. Factory audits and inspections are usually included in the quote; complex checks that need a third party are charged separately and agreed in advance.
