Importing from China to Madagascar: BSC registration
For a commercial sea shipment from China to Madagascar, arrange the BSC cargo-tracking record. Customs says the formalities take place after dispatch. Prepare the documents beforehand and ask your own broker to confirm the final entry. Source through a UK company with staff in China: Cambridge China Bridge.

Start with the BSC cargo record
For commercial goods shipped by sea, the Madagascar customs gate to organise is the BSC cargo-tracking record. Customs states that a cargo bound for Madagascar must be covered by a BSC and that the associated formalities take place once the goods have been dispatched.
Before ordering, agree who will organise the BSC and pass its reference and documents to your broker. Prepare the paperwork before loading so the shipment details can be completed promptly after dispatch. The overseas buying guide explains the wider split between sourcing in China and clearance at your destination.
Agree a price to your own port
Tell us your product, intended use, quantity, packing needs and destination port in Madagascar. We can quote through our UK company with the goods shipped from China to your port. Record the delivery term and named port in the quotation, together with what freight and insurance it includes.
Ask for destination handling, broker charges, duties, taxes and onward delivery to be identified separately wherever they fall outside the quote. Buying through a UK company does not make a port quotation an all-inclusive delivered price. Our buy-through-UK-company service explains the purchasing arrangement.
Prepare a consistent document pack
We coordinate the commercial invoice and packing list with the Chinese factory and the agreed seller. Check that product descriptions, models, quantities, carton marks and weights agree across the documents. Ask your broker to review drafts before shipment, especially where our UK company invoices goods made and shipped in China.
We arrange a certificate of origin where your broker confirms it is needed and obtain available factory test reports for the ordered model. Agree any additional testing before production. Send the broker the transport document when available, alongside the invoice and packing list. Do not assume a report for a similar product covers the goods you ordered.
Give your own broker the arrival work
Appoint your own Madagascar customs broker before committing to the order. Ask them to confirm your importer details, product classification, any product-specific permissions or labelling, and the documents needed for the final entry. Send photographs, specifications and intended use rather than a broad description such as accessories.
On arrival, your broker handles the declaration, customs queries, duty and tax arrangements, and release coordination under your instructions. Have them check the BSC reference against the shipment paperwork. If you also buy for neighbouring markets, use the separate South Africa and Kenya guides to plan those orders.

Check the supplier and goods before shipment
Our staff in China check the supplier’s identity, production address, manufacturing capability and proposed payment recipient. We establish which work the factory performs itself, review samples against your written specification and check that reports identify the proposed product. Resolve gaps before placing the production order.
Before shipment, inspect the goods against the approved sample and specification, including workmanship, function, quantity, labels, carton marks and packing. Record defects and agree corrections before release. Keep inspection findings separate from the broker’s assessment of import paperwork. Factory audits and inspections are usually included in the quote; complex checks that need a third party are charged separately and agreed in advance.
