Start with the importer's registration
Libyan Customs states that the statistical number has been replaced by the economic operator system and directs applicants there for registration and an operator code. Start by asking your own customs broker to check your importing entity's registration and confirm which record to use for your shipment.
Send the broker your product description, intended use, importing company details and destination port before committing to a factory. Ask for a written checklist covering importer eligibility, any advance filings, product approvals, conformity documents and labels applicable to your goods.
Agree what the price to your port includes
Cambridge China Bridge is a UK-based sourcing company with its own staff in China. We can source from Chinese factories and quote to your nominated Libyan port. Ask the quotation to identify the delivery term, freight, insurance arrangements and the point where your own broker takes over.
Have destination handling, clearance, duties, taxes and onward delivery identified separately wherever they are outside the quotation. Our overseas buying guide explains the wider process, while buying through a UK company explains the purchasing arrangement.
Prepare the document set while goods are in China
We coordinate the commercial invoice and packing list with the factory and the agreed seller or exporter. We arrange the certificate of origin through the appropriate issuer when requested in the broker's checklist, and collect available factory test reports or arrange agreed testing. Confirm document formats and any authentication before booking shipment.
Check names, product descriptions, quantities, weights, package marks and origin details across the document set. Match test reports to the actual model and specification. Send drafts to your Libyan broker for review, and ask them to confirm whether the reports and certificates are acceptable for the intended import.
Check the supplier and inspect before shipment
Our China staff check the supplier's identity, factory location, production capability and whether the proposed work is subcontracted. We compare the quotation with your specification and approved sample, then agree what evidence the factory must provide before production and shipment.
Inspection checks the finished goods against the agreed specification, including workmanship, function, quantities, packing and approved labels. Record defects and agree corrections before authorising shipment. Keep the inspection report separate from laboratory reports and any conformity documents requested by your broker.

Your own broker handles the arrival
Libyan Customs describes the customs broker's work as clearing imports or exports, preparing documents and calculating customs tax. Appoint your own broker to manage arrival clearance, confirm the final entry and amounts payable, and coordinate any queries or examinations. We support them with the agreed China-side documents and supplier responses.
Ask the broker to approve the shipment checklist before release from China. For orders serving neighbouring markets, use the separate Egypt guide and Algeria guide alongside each destination's own broker checklist.
