Resolve the product licence question before ordering

The Ministry of Economy and Trade’s published survey states that licence requirements vary between ministries and between goods. Use that distinction as your starting point: ask your Lebanese customs broker to identify the current licensing position for the exact product before paying a factory deposit.

Send the broker the intended use, materials, model details, photographs and proposed importer. Request a written checklist covering importer status, product approvals, conformity evidence and labels, with responsibility for each action. Our guide for buyers outside the UK explains the wider purchasing arrangement.

Agree a document schedule for the UK sale and China shipment

We coordinate the commercial invoice for our sale, obtain the Chinese factory’s packing list, arrange a certificate of origin where needed and collect the agreed test reports. Send drafts to your broker for review, including any instructions about originals, certification or translations.

Keep the UK seller, Chinese manufacturer, Lebanese importer and consignee clearly identified. Match descriptions, models, quantities, weights and carton marks across the documents. Ask the broker how to present the UK invoice alongside the Chinese shipment and origin documents before dispatch.

Check the supplier and inspect against the agreed order

Our own staff in China can check the supplier’s identity, production address, equipment and ability to make your specification. We compare the proposed product with approved samples and ask about subcontracting, component substitutions and the origin of supporting reports.

Before shipment, we inspect the agreed scope, including workmanship, function, quantities, labels and packing. We report discrepancies with photographs for your release decision. Treat laboratory testing and acceptance of reports in Lebanon as separate questions. See buying through a UK company for the purchasing structure.

Make the port quote and arrival responsibilities explicit

Ask for a quote to your named Lebanese port, with the shipping term and inclusions written down. Identify freight, insurance, destination handling, clearance, duties, taxes and onward delivery separately. A price to port needs an agreed boundary so you can budget for your local providers’ charges.

The ministry states that imported goods must be declared. Appoint your own Lebanese customs broker to confirm the final entry, classification and valuation, prepare the declaration, coordinate authority queries or examinations and advise on payments and release. We support document corrections with the factory.

Keep each destination’s approval file separate

If the same factory supplies your business in neighbouring markets, maintain a destination checklist for each order. Our Jordan guide and Turkey guide cover those markets separately; use your Lebanese broker’s instructions for the Lebanon shipment.

Before authorising dispatch, bring together the broker’s checklist, reviewed documents, agreed test evidence, approved artwork, inspection findings and transport booking. Resolve outstanding questions while the goods are still accessible at the factory.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an import licence to buy from China to Lebanon?

Licensing requirements depend on the goods and ministry concerned, according to the ministry’s published survey. Give your broker the exact specification and ask for confirmation before committing to the order.

Can a UK sourcing company quote to my Lebanese port?

Yes. Cambridge China Bridge can quote to your named port. Agree the shipping term, insurance and destination charges in writing, then obtain your broker’s estimate for clearance and local costs.

What documents should I request from the Chinese factory?

Agree a packing list, certificate of origin where needed and reports matching the ordered product. We coordinate these with our commercial invoice, while your broker reviews the shipment’s final document set.

Does a factory inspection confirm Lebanese import compliance?

Use inspection to check the goods against your specification. Ask your broker or assessment specialist separately to review the applicable approval route and whether the factory’s test evidence is suitable.
