Start with your Cameroon importer registration

Cameroon's Ministry of Trade maintains the register of importers and exporters. Start by asking your own customs broker to check your registration status and identify the business that will import the goods. Send that business name with your product brief before asking us to approach Chinese factories.

Ask the broker for a written checklist covering your exact product: any pre-shipment conformity process, product approvals, labelling and supporting documents. Settle that checklist before approving production. For the wider sourcing arrangements, read buying from China outside the UK.

Agree a quotation to your own port

Tell us your chosen Cameroon port, product specification, quantity, packaging and intended use. We can quote for sourcing from Chinese factories and shipping to that port. Ask the quotation to identify the delivery term, freight, insurance arrangements, destination charges and the point where your responsibility begins.

Have your broker prepare the local cost estimate separately, including clearance, duties, taxes, port handling and onward transport as applicable. Agree who contracts with whom and who issues the sales invoice through our buy through a UK company service.

Prepare the factory and shipment documents

We coordinate the commercial invoice and packing list with the factory and the agreed seller. Check buyer and seller names, product descriptions, quantities, values, carton details and weights against the order. Where the UK company sells and the Chinese factory ships, send the proposed invoice arrangement to your broker before dispatch.

Ask the factory for test reports identifying the actual model and materials ordered. We collect and review those reports and coordinate a certificate of origin where your broker requests it. Agree who obtains each document, then send drafts to the broker for review before shipment.

Check the supplier and inspect before shipment

Our staff in China check the supplier's identity, production location and ability to make the agreed product. We compare samples, specifications and supporting reports, and investigate whether production is being subcontracted. Agree the acceptance criteria before placing the order.

Before shipment, we inspect the goods against the approved sample and specification, checking workmanship, operation, quantities, packaging and agreed label artwork. Record defects and corrective work before authorising release. Factory audits and inspections are usually included in the quote; complex checks that need a third party are charged separately and agreed in advance.

Give your own broker the arrival work

Arrange for your Cameroon customs broker to review the shipment file, confirm classification and valuation, prepare the declaration, coordinate any requested examination and organise release and collection. The buyer's own customs broker confirms the final entry. Ask for missing documents while the goods are still in China.

For orders serving other destinations, use the separate guides to Nigeria and Ghana. Give each destination broker the actual product and shipment details, and obtain a separate checklist rather than reusing the Cameroon file unchanged.
