Start with the Afghan importing business

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce's licence procedure sets out business registration through the Afghanistan Central Business Registry. Make this your starting check: send your broker the importing business's details and ask them to confirm its current registration and licence position before you commit to production.

The accessible guidance is on the ministry's old website. Ask your broker to verify the current procedure and identify any product-specific approvals, certification or labelling instructions. The customs and standards homepages did not open during research, so this guide makes no claim about a general pre-shipment conformity scheme.

Name the delivery point before comparing quotes

Afghanistan is landlocked. Tell us the seaport or border point you want quoted, together with the final delivery address. Agree the onward leg separately, identifying who arranges transit, handling, insurance and delivery, and which destination charges remain payable by you.

For a route through Pakistan, use the Pakistan guide to frame questions about that leg. If comparing a route involving Kazakhstan, consult the Kazakhstan guide. Ask the forwarder to confirm cargo acceptance and the proposed route before booking.

Give your own broker the arrival work

Appoint your Afghan customs broker before ordering. Agree that they will confirm the final entry, check classification and valuation, calculate applicable duties and taxes, and identify the shipment's clearance documents. Ask for a written checklist tied to your exact goods and chosen entry point.

On arrival, your broker coordinates the declaration, responses to customs questions, any requested examination and release arrangements within the agreed scope. Keep transit clearance and Afghan import clearance separate in the transport plan. Our overseas buying guide explains the wider division of responsibilities.

Agree the factory document pack

We coordinate the commercial invoice and packing list with the factory and arrange the certificate of origin where agreed. Ask your broker which issuer, format and supporting records they will accept. Confirm who issues the sales invoice when buying through our UK company, and have the broker review a draft before dispatch.

Request test reports for the actual model, materials and configuration ordered. We collect available factory reports and flag gaps for agreed testing. Match descriptions, quantities, package details and parties across the file, then send it to your broker for review. This is a preparation checklist, not a claim that every document is mandatory for every shipment.

Check the supplier and inspect before shipment

Our staff in China check the supplier's identity, production location and ability to make the specified goods. Agree whether a factory visit is needed, approve an identified sample and record materials, dimensions, performance, packaging and acceptance criteria before production.

Before shipment, inspect against that brief and record defects, quantities, packaging and agreed functional checks. Resolve discrepancies before authorising dispatch; inspection does not establish customs acceptance. Use buying through a UK company to agree the contracting party, document responsibilities and shipment approval.

Frequently asked questions

What should I check before importing from China to Afghanistan?

Begin with the Afghan importing business. Give your broker its registration and licence details, plus the product specification, and obtain confirmation of the current entry arrangements before ordering.

Can you quote shipping to Afghanistan?

Name the seaport or border point you want priced. We agree the freight scope to that point; onward transport, transit handling and final delivery are agreed separately.

Which documents will the Chinese factory provide?

Agree the commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and relevant test reports before production. We coordinate the pack; your broker confirms the documents and formats for your shipment.

Does a factory inspection guarantee Afghan customs release?

No. Inspection checks the goods against your purchase specification. Your own customs broker confirms the final entry and coordinates clearance at destination.
