Importing from China to Spain: EORI registration

For a business importing from China to Spain, start by confirming its EORI registration: Spain’s tax authority says EORI is required for customs operations in the Union. Your own customs broker confirms the final entry. China-side sourcing, checks and pricing to your Spanish port are handled by Cambridge China Bridge.

Confirm the importer’s EORI before ordering

Spain’s tax authority states that EORI is required to carry out customs operations in the Union. For a business buying from Chinese factories, make the importing company’s registration the opening check. Send your company details and any existing EORI to your own Spanish customs broker before committing to the order.

Registration is only the starting point. EU guidance says importers must ensure their imported products conform to EU law. Ask your broker and product adviser to identify the requirements for the exact goods, including any permits, certification, labels and instructions, before approving production.

Agree a quote to your Spanish port

Name your destination port and ask for a written delivery term, freight scope and list of excluded costs. Separately ask your broker for an arrival-cost estimate covering clearance, duties, import VAT, port charges and onward delivery. A price to your port should not be treated as a delivered-to-warehouse total.

The goods can travel directly from China to Spain while we manage procurement through our UK company. Buying from China outside the UK explains the general arrangement; the Ireland guide covers a comparable direct-shipping setup. Agree who sells the goods and who acts as agent through our buy-through-UK-company service. For another destination, see importing from China to Italy.

Give your broker the arrival work

Agree that your own customs broker will prepare and lodge the import declaration, check classification, origin and customs value, confirm duties and import VAT, and coordinate clearance queries. Your broker confirms the final entry for your shipment; we supply the China-side information and documents.

Send draft documents for review before shipment. Ask the broker to flag inconsistent company names, vague product descriptions, missing supporting evidence and any destination-specific requirements. Agree who will answer a customs query, arrange payment and organise collection after release.

Build the document pack before dispatch

The factory supplies product descriptions, quantities, packing details and available test reports. We coordinate the commercial invoice from the agreed seller and the factory’s packing list, checking them against the order and shipment. Ask your broker whether a certificate of origin is needed and in what form; we arrange it at the China end where agreed.

Check that test reports identify the actual model, materials and configuration being supplied. Ask for the supporting conformity documents your product adviser identifies, and approve label and instruction artwork before printing. Give the broker the transport document when available. Keep laboratory reports and our inspection report clearly identified as separate evidence.

Check the supplier and release the actual batch

Our own staff in China check supplier identity, the production site and relevant manufacturing capability against your brief. The factory verification guide explains the method. For Spain, make access to the agreed product evidence and approved packaging artwork part of supplier selection, alongside sample quality and price.

Before shipment, we inspect against the approved sample, specification and acceptance plan, including agreed quantity, workmanship, function, labels and packaging checks. We report discrepancies for your release decision and can arrange an agreed loading check. The inspection guide covers the stages. Factory audits and inspections are usually included in the quote; complex checks that need a third party are charged separately and agreed in advance.
