Can I buy a jammer from China for use in the UK?
Do not buy an active phone, GPS or Wi-Fi jammer to use for personal privacy in the UK: deliberate interference is an offence. Import and supply compliance need separate checks, and a CE or UKCA logo does not authorise jamming. Ask for help checking factory claims and sourcing passive alternatives from Cambridge China Bridge.

Personal privacy does not authorise jamming
An active jammer creates interference to disrupt mobile communications, satellite positioning or wireless networking. UK law makes using apparatus for the purpose of interfering with wireless telegraphy an offence. Calling the product a privacy protector does not change that purpose.
Do not accept claims that operation becomes lawful because the device is low powered, used briefly or kept inside your home, office or car. Ask the seller to identify the specific legal authority for the proposed operation. Do not switch it on to see whether it works.
Separate importing, supplying and using
Under the electromagnetic compatibility rules, an importer must not place apparatus on the market unless it meets the essential requirements. Government guidance also identifies supplying non-compliant equipment as an offence. A claim that possession is allowed does not establish lawful import, supply or operation.
For a shipment from China, establish the exact product, destination and intended use before paying. Personal purchasing does not remove the prohibition on deliberate interference. Successful customs clearance is not operating permission. For commercial orders, use our importer of record guide to clarify who handles the import responsibilities.
Check what the supplier's documents actually prove
Request the model specification, operating description, manual, declaration of conformity and complete test reports. Ask whether the product emits interference or passively shields an enclosed device. Compare the model, hardware and operating modes across the documents. Our test report verification guide explains how to check the underlying evidence.
A CE or UKCA logo does not authorise deliberate interference. Use our marking and conformity guide for document checks. Our radio equipment scope guide covers ordinary wireless products; do not assume that a jammer has the same intended function as a communications device.
Challenge claims of lawful operation
If the seller claims a licence, official exemption or research purpose, request the actual document and its conditions. Check the named operator, equipment, location, activity and restrictions. Ask Ofcom or the issuing authority to confirm whether it covers your proposed use before ordering. A supplier's assurance is not that confirmation.
Keep screenshots of the listing and the seller's written explanation. Pause the purchase if the seller supplies unrelated certificates, refuses to explain the operating principle or suggests changing the product description for shipping. Cambridge China Bridge's staff in China can request factory evidence and compare it with the proposed order.

Choose privacy measures you control
Start with your own devices: review location permissions and account sharing, disable radios you do not need, or switch the device off. For meeting privacy, consider agreed device storage outside the room. Choose the measure around the actual concern, such as location sharing, incoming calls or recording.
For physical isolation, consider a passive shielding pouch or enclosure rather than an interference transmitter. Specify the devices and signals it should isolate, then check a sample with your own equipment. Expect connectivity to be unavailable while shielding works. A pouch is not evidence that a microphone has stopped recording; assess that concern separately.
Frequently asked questions
Can I import a jammer from China for personal use?
Do not treat personal use as approval. Check the exact product and proposed import before shipment. Buying privately does not authorise using it to interfere with wireless communications.
Can I use a GPS jammer in my own car?
Personal privacy and ownership of the car do not authorise deliberate interference. Review location sharing and the devices you control instead.
Does CE or UKCA marking make a jammer legal?
A logo does not authorise jamming. Check the actual conformity documents and separately establish the legal authority for the proposed operation.
Is a Faraday pouch the same as a jammer?
A passive pouch shields the device inside rather than transmitting interference. Check its performance with your own equipment and remember that shielding connectivity does not prove recording has stopped.
