Sourcing women's woven jumpsuits from China
For women's woven jumpsuits confirmed under the listed trouser lines, UK duty from China is a flat 12%, with no trade remedy recorded. Fibre-content labels are required. Confirm classification from the finished garment, then approve torso length, seated fit and fastening access. Cambridge China Bridge sources women's woven jumpsuits.

Duty and classification for woven jumpsuits
Read from the UK Trade Tariff on 29 September 2026, the supplied heading 6204 lines carry 12% duty for goods from China, with no anti-dumping or countervailing duty or suspension recorded. The heading covers women's and girls' garments including trousers and bib and brace overalls. For the wider heading, see our women's woven dungarees guide.
The tariff attaches cat and dog fur and seal-product import controls; some supplied lines also attach CITES import and export controls. Cat and dog fur products are banned from import. Commercial seal products require qualifying traditional indigenous-hunt origin and a seal catch attestation. Before ordering any animal-derived trim from China, ask your customs broker to confirm eligibility and documents. For CITES-listed materials, confirm the species and applicable documents with the broker and the authorities.
The table shows supplied trouser lines for classification checks, rather than confirmed codes for every jumpsuit. HMRC guidance covers trousers and dungarees but does not expressly classify jumpsuits. Give your broker photographs, a sample, fibre composition and details of the upper-body construction to confirm the commodity code. Use the worked example only if that classification is confirmed.

Specify torso length, crotch shape and access
Specify the woven fabric, fibre composition, weight, stretch direction, finish, colour and lining. Describe sleeves or straps, neckline, waist seam, belt loops, pockets, leg shape and closure position. Agree bust, waist, hip, shoulder-to-waist, rise and inside-leg measurement points and tolerances. Include a shoulder-to-crotch measurement so the factory cannot approve fit from trouser measurements alone.
Try the sample standing, sitting, bending and reaching. Check that the bodice does not pull the crotch upwards and that the wearer can open and remove the garment without assistance. Agree checks for shrinkage, colour transfer and seam opening using production fabric. Fibre content must be labelled; components with different fibre contents must show their respective contents. Specify care instructions separately and approve label artwork against the actual materials.
Worked duty example
Illustrative example, not a quote: Illustrative order of 500 women's woven jumpsuits, assuming classification under this trouser line is confirmed under 6204 63 18 90, invoiced at £6,000 free on board, with £800 of freight and insurance to the UK. The customs value is £6,800. Duty at 12% is £816. Import VAT at 20% is charged on the customs value plus duty, £7,616, so it is £1,523.20. Import taxes total £2,339.20; a VAT-registered importer can usually reclaim the VAT, so the lasting cost is the £816 of duty. The import duty and VAT guide explains each step.
Inspection checklist
Fit: measure across the ordered sizes; check torso length, waist position, seated crotch clearance, neckline gaping and lining restriction.
Fabric: compare shade, opacity and stretch with the approved sample; repeat the agreed cleaning check and look for twisting or uneven leg shrinkage.
Seams and closures: inspect the crotch intersection, waist joins and pocket corners; operate the zip fully and check snagging, exposed edges and fastening access.
Arrival and labels: reconcile sizes and carton contents; inspect for dampness, stains and crushed folds, and match fibre labels to material records. Plan checks with the quality inspection guide.

What goes wrong
A jumpsuit can match the bust and hip measurements yet pull painfully when the wearer sits because the torso is too short. Changing the waist seam position can alter both bodice balance and crotch clearance. Approve movement fit across the size range, with the intended lining and fastening fitted.
Fabric substitution can reduce stretch or make pale cloth transparent. Crotch seams can open under movement, concealed zips can catch the waist seam, and unequal shrinkage can twist the legs. Keep the approved sample and fabric swatches available during production, and compare washed production samples before accepting the batch.

Frequently asked questions
What is the UK import duty on women's woven jumpsuits from China?
The supplied heading 6204 lines carry 12% duty, with no anti-dumping or countervailing duty or suspension recorded. Apply this only after confirming that the finished jumpsuit belongs in the selected line.
Can every woven jumpsuit use a trouser commodity code?
Do not assume so. The supplied rows describe trousers, not jumpsuits expressly. Ask your customs broker to check the complete garment, including its upper-body construction and fibre composition.
Do imported women's jumpsuits need fibre labels?
Yes. Fibre content must be labelled. Where components have different fibre contents, show each component's content. Check the label against the actual shell and lining.
How do I check whether a jumpsuit will fit when sitting?
Try a production-fabric sample sitting, bending and reaching. Check shoulder-to-crotch length, waist position, crotch clearance and lining restriction, then repeat after the agreed cleaning method.
