Sourcing steel hose clamps from China
The relevant heading 7326 lines carry 2% UK duty for goods from China, with no anti-dumping duty shown. Confirm classification from the clamp's construction; consumer-use clamps must be safe in normal or reasonably foreseeable use. Specify the band, screw and housing materials separately. UK duty and classification for hose clamps
Read from the UK Trade Tariff on 8 October 2026, heading 7326 covers other articles of iron or steel. The table repeats the residual articles line for different band-clamp designs and includes the steel-wire line. These are classification candidates, rather than separate tariff descriptions for each clamp design. For related connections, see steel pipe fittings.
Both candidate lines carry 2% duty for goods from China. The supplied data shows no anti-dumping or countervailing duty, suspension or steel measure on these lines. The residual line attaches a torture-goods import prohibition and export restriction. Imports of prohibited torture goods are banned; ask your customs broker to confirm the scope against the clamp drawing and intended use before shipment.
Confirm the commodity code using the construction, material and manufacturing process. Heading 7326 is within UK CBAM scope from 1 January 2027, as explained in the supplied reference guide; request supplier emissions information. See UK CBAM and UK import duty and VAT when budgeting.
| Goods | Commodity code | Duty | Anti-dumping or countervailing duty on China |
|---|---|---|---|
| Worm-drive steel band hose clamps, subject to classification | 7326 90 98 90 | 2% | None |
| Steel wire hose clamps, subject to classification | 7326 20 00 90 | 2% | None |
Specify the clamp around the hose
State the hose outside diameter when fitted over its connector, the adjustment range, band width and thickness, and whether the band is perforated or smooth inside. Specify the steel grade and finish separately for the band, housing, screw and bolt. An unspecified stainless-steel description can conceal a different screw material.
Agree tightening and failure tests using the intended hose and connector. Include screw drive, access for the installation tool, edge finish and resistance to slipping. For clamps sold for consumer use in Great Britain, general product safety rules require safety in normal or reasonably foreseeable use. Keep supplier-identification records so the goods can be traced.
Worked duty example
Illustrative example, not a quote: Illustrative mixed-size order of 5,000 steel hose clamps under 7326 90 98 90, invoiced at £30,000 free on board, with £5,000 of freight and insurance to the UK. The customs value is £35,000. Duty at 2% is £700. Import VAT at 20% is charged on the customs value plus duty, £35,700, so it is £7,140. Import taxes total £7,840; a VAT-registered importer can usually reclaim the VAT, so the lasting cost is the £700 of duty. The import duty and VAT guide explains each step.
Inspection checklist
Materials: match component material records and finish to the approved specification; inspect screws and housings as well as bands.
Fit: measure the adjustment range and assemble samples on the intended hose and connector at the agreed tightening setting.
Edges and grip: check burrs, raised perforations, stripped threads, housing movement and band slippage.
Arrival condition: inspect corrosion, bent bands and mixed sizes; compare carton contents and batch identification with the packing list. Use the agreed inspection plan.

What goes wrong
A clamp can tighten on the bench yet leak on the actual hose. A band near the end of its adjustment range may distort, perforations can bite into soft hose, and a weak housing can lift before adequate grip is reached. Approve an assembled joint rather than an isolated clamp.
Corrosion can start at the screw even when the band remains clean. Require component-level material confirmation and an agreed corrosion test suited to the application. Retain an approved sample and compare repeat deliveries against it.
Cambridge China Bridge sources these products for UK businesses, checking the factory and the documents before shipment. See factory verification. For repeat volumes, see container programmes.
Frequently asked questions
What is the UK import duty on steel hose clamps from China?
The candidate lines 7326 90 98 90 and 7326 20 00 90 carry 2% duty. The supplied tariff data shows no anti-dumping or countervailing duty on either line. Confirm the code for your construction.
Are stainless-steel hose clamps stainless throughout?
Do not assume so. Specify and verify the band, housing and screw materials separately, including any coating. Keep component material records with the approved sample.
How do I choose the right clamp size?
Use the hose outside diameter after it is fitted over the connector. Check the adjustment range and tool access, then test the assembled joint at the agreed tightening setting.
What should I check before accepting a delivery?
Check sizes, component materials, burrs, corrosion and tightening performance. Test for thread stripping, housing movement and band slippage on the intended hose and connector.
