Sourcing satellite dish reflectors from China

Satellite dish reflectors supplied separately from China carry 0% UK duty under the reflector line in heading 8529, with no listed trade remedy. For consumer sales, do not sell products you know or should have known are unsafe. Check dish shape, mounting fit and packing. Cambridge China Bridge sources satellite dish reflectors.

Zero duty on separately supplied reflectors

Heading 8529 covers parts suitable for use solely or principally with apparatus of headings 8524 to 8528, including aerial reflectors. For separately supplied satellite dish reflectors, the relevant line is 8529 10 95 00. The table shows product variants sharing this code, rather than separate tariff classifications.

Read from the UK Trade Tariff on 1 October 2026, the reflector line carried 0% duty for goods from China. The supplied record lists no anti-dumping or countervailing duty, tariff suspension or attached import control for this line. Conditional suspensions on other parts lines in this heading do not change the reflector rate.

Confirm the commodity code using the drawing, intended apparatus and exact contents of the shipment. State whether the order contains bare reflectors or complete antenna assemblies. For assembled products, see the wider satellite dish antenna guide.

Dish profile, material and mounting fit

Specify offset or prime-focus geometry, aperture dimensions, depth, focal position, material, thickness and coating. Agree the profile tolerance and how it will be measured against the approved drawing. A diameter alone does not establish compatibility with the buyer's feed position or mounting assembly.

Define mounting-hole positions, rear reinforcement and the supplied hardware. Ask for coating adhesion and corrosion-test evidence matched to the material and finish ordered. Assemble a sample with the intended bracket and feed support, then compare reception with the approved sample using the same test arrangement.

For consumer sales, do not sell reflectors you know or should have known are unsafe. Include sharp edges and mounting failure in the sample review, and agree handling and assembly instructions with the supplier.

Worked duty example

Illustrative example, not a quote: Illustrative order: 50 steel satellite dish reflectors under 8529 10 95 00, invoiced at £1,800 free on board, with £600 of freight and insurance to the UK. The customs value is £2,400. Duty at 0% is £0. Import VAT at 20% is charged on the customs value plus duty, £2,400, so it is £480. With no duty, the only import tax is the VAT, which a VAT-registered importer can usually reclaim. The import duty and VAT guide explains each step.

Inspection checklist

Profile: check aperture, depth and surface shape against the drawing; look for dents, twisting and uneven rims.

Mounting: trial-fit the intended bracket and feed support; check hole positions, reinforcement, threads and supplied hardware.

Finish: check exposed edges, coating coverage, scratches and corrosion; compare the finish with the approved sample.

Packing: check separators, rim protection and carton support; unpack arrival samples and repeat the profile checks. Include these checks in the inspection brief.

What goes wrong

A reflector can look acceptable while its profile or focal position differs from the approved sample. Wrong mounting holes can force installers to modify the assembly. Agree drawings and a trial assembly before approving production, and record any factory change to tooling, material or reinforcement.

Nested dishes can rub through their coating or arrive with bent rims when cartons carry stacking loads through the reflector. Specify separators and packaging that supports the load without distorting the dish. Photograph damage before unpacking the remaining stock and compare affected pieces with the approved profile.

Frequently asked questions

What is the UK import duty on satellite dish reflectors from China?

The supplied tariff record gives 0% duty for separately supplied reflectors under 8529 10 95 00, with no listed anti-dumping or countervailing duty.

Do bare reflectors use the same code as complete satellite dishes?

Do not assume so. Confirm classification from the exact shipment contents, including brackets, feed equipment and electronics.

What should I put in a reflector specification?

Geometry, aperture, depth, focal position, material, thickness, coating, profile tolerance, mounting holes and reinforcement.

How do I check reflectors when they arrive?

Check profile and rim shape, trial-fit the mounting assembly, inspect coating and edges, and look for dents or rubbing caused by nesting and packing.
