Can GB and Northern Ireland use the same label?
Yes, if the product meets each applicable regime and the markings remain clearly visible. UKNI cannot stand alone: it needs the relevant companion conformity marking, usually CE. Approve the compliance route before approving shared artwork. Ask Cambridge China Bridge to coordinate the factory proof checks.

Start with the product and destination
Give the factory a destination list distinguishing Great Britain from Northern Ireland. Conformity marking depends on sector-specific rules; not every product needs it. A shared label should follow a product-specific decision, rather than a factory habit of printing every available symbol.
The supplied Ireland import guide covers a different destination. Use it if your order also includes the Republic of Ireland; keep those stock instructions separate from the Northern Ireland artwork approval.
Multiple marks need supporting compliance
Multiple markings are permitted when the product meets the relevant requirements and the marks can be clearly seen. This is conditional permission, not approval to add symbols without supporting compliance. The product must meet all applicable regulations, not just the requirement covered by a convenient test report.
Ask your compliance reviewer to record the applicable regime, assessment route and supporting evidence for each proposed mark. For direct Chinese shipments to Great Britain, confirm the applicable GB route separately. Do not treat the arrangements for qualifying Northern Ireland goods as automatic approval for Chinese stock.
Resolve UKNI before designing the label
UKNI is never used alone. It accompanies the relevant conformity marking, commonly CE. For mandatory third-party assessment for Northern Ireland carried out by a Northern Ireland notified body, the guidance requires UKNI alongside CE.
Ask which body performed the assessment and what work it covered. Do not accept a factory's suggestion to add UKNI simply because the buyer is a UK company. Put the agreed marking combination in the artwork brief before the designer prepares the print file.
Approve the evidence and artwork separately
Prepare a review sheet linking each product model and destination to its proposed marks, assessment evidence and declaration. Ask the reviewer to resolve gaps before you release printing. Use building a product compliance file for organising the supporting records.
Then approve the actual layout, including the product label, carton and any accompanying material. Record the file revision, placement and the person authorising printing. Approving factory artwork covers the print approval process; add the destination and marking decision to that approval.

Check what production actually uses
Ask for photographs of the production label and packed goods against the approved proof. Check for substituted artwork, obscured marks and cartons assigned to the wrong destination. Keep separate stock instructions wherever the approved layouts differ.
Include these checks in the agreed pre-shipment inspection. Cambridge China Bridge's own staff in China can coordinate factory proofs and production checks against your approved instructions. Keep a named compliance reviewer responsible for the decision to approve each regime.
Frequently asked questions
Can my Chinese factory print all the marks?
Only where the product meets the relevant requirements and the marks remain clearly visible. Ask for evidence supporting each mark before releasing the artwork.
Can UKNI appear without CE?
UKNI cannot appear alone. It needs the relevant companion conformity marking, commonly CE; check the product-specific marking route.
Does using a UK sourcing company require UKNI?
The relevant trigger is mandatory third-party assessment for Northern Ireland by a Northern Ireland notified body. The sourcing company's location does not establish that assessment route.
What should I approve before factory printing?
Approve the destination, applicable regimes and evidence first. Then approve the exact artwork revision and ask for production photographs against that proof.
