Does UK warehouse mean a UK seller?
No. 'UK warehouse' describes a claimed stock or dispatch location; it does not establish who sells you the goods or where returns go. Before paying, match the seller's legal name to the order, confirm the dispatch route, agree customs costs and obtain the return address. Ask Cambridge China Bridge to help check the evidence.

Identify the seller behind the listing
Open the marketplace's seller information and save it alongside the listing and checkout terms. Ask for the contracting seller's full legal name, business address and company registration details where applicable. Match these to the order confirmation and proposed invoice. If the shop name, invoice issuer or payment recipient differs, ask for a written explanation of each party's role before paying.
An overseas seller can hold goods in the UK. HMRC says a fixed establishment requires a real UK presence and genuine operation from the UK. Keep this VAT question separate from identifying your contractual seller. Ask whether the marketplace sells the goods or facilitates another seller's sale. Our seller-versus-agent guide explains the contractual distinction.
Check the goods allocated to your order
Ask whether your exact model and variant are physically available at the stated UK warehouse now. Obtain the dispatch address, warehouse operator's name and stock confirmation tied to your order. Clarify whether the listing describes existing stock, expected replenishment or a UK handling point for goods travelling from China. A warehouse photograph without identifiable goods does not resolve that question.
Agree that any switch to overseas dispatch needs your written approval. After dispatch, compare the promised route with carrier acceptance scans and tracking history. A tracking number alone is weak evidence of where goods started their journey. For batch identification, ownership and reservation checks, use buying China stock lots.
Separate warehouse location from customs status
Goods being in a UK warehouse does not establish that import charges have been settled. HMRC guidance allows payment of import duties or VAT to be suspended for goods stored under customs warehousing. Ask whether the allocated stock has been released for free circulation or remains under a customs procedure, and request evidence matching the goods. For separate packaging tax checks, see our guide to checking a seller's Plastic Packaging Tax assurance.
If your order will arrive from abroad, ask who will be named as importer, who arranges clearance and who bears duty, import VAT and carrier clearance charges. Obtain a written breakdown of what the checkout price includes. Use who is the importer of record for the role and documents, and marketplace VAT on China-held stock for the separate VAT treatment.
Get the actual return address before paying
Ask for the full authorised return address, recipient and return approval process for this product. Confirm whether faulty goods and change-of-mind returns use the same destination. Ask whether the UK warehouse accepts returns or only dispatches orders. Do not assume the seller's business address, parcel sender address or marketplace office is an accepted return destination.
Agree your business-order return terms: who pays carriage, whether collection is available, what evidence is requested and when a refund or replacement will be arranged. Obtain written confirmation of any promised UK return route. Before returning faulty goods, preserve photographs, correspondence and delivery records; our faulty-goods claims guide covers the wider claims process. For refund requests involving screen sharing, see our screen-sharing refund requests guide. For disputes involving arbitration clauses, see UK seller arbitration and court rights.

Make the answers part of the order
Send the seller a confirmation request naming the contracting seller, allocated stock, dispatch address, customs arrangements and authorised return address. Ask them to confirm that these details apply to your order and explain any conflict with the listing or checkout terms. Keep the response with dated screenshots, the invoice and payment record.
Hold payment if the seller avoids naming the counterparty, cannot substantiate UK stock or will only reveal the return destination after purchase. Cambridge China Bridge's own staff in China can help reconcile supplier and dispatch evidence when the route involves China. Agree our role and checking scope before placing the order.
